What don't I miss about being a kid? I definitely identify with Peter Pan. The fun thing about being a kid was that everything was so uncomplicated. You walked out into the backyard and you could go around finding amusement in the smallest things. You climbed into your neighbor's tree house and it could be your aerie, your ship, whatever you wanted. You spent long summer afternoons in pretending to be someone else, making up marvelous adventures. Just remembering that feeling of wonder as some new adventure was laid out before you....ahhhh. I miss those days. I think it's why I started writing--this way I can still exercise my imagination. It's also why I read books so much. The real world can be so, so dull sometimes. And now my senior year is looming, I'm missing those childhood days more than ever. I don't want to leave home and go out into the world. I don't feel ready to stand on my own. I just want to cling to being young and relatively carefree for a while.
Gaaahhh. I'm not usually angsty, but on this subject....
I have always been resistent to change. I still haven't resigned myself to DVDs. And it takes me forever to make friends. I do NOT want to leave for college. I don't even want to think about it, but I have to. Sigh.
Done with the whining now, you can go on with your lives.
Lots of love,
Minna
