Song Number 1: In the Beginning - Children of Eden
Your favourite lyric from this song: “Our hands can choose to drop the knife, our hearts can choose to stop the hating, for every moment of our lives is the beginning.” <333 Perfect song to ask me this question, because I love love love its lyrics, especially that one. Also the music is gorgeous. Just everything about it literally gives me chills.
Does this song have any bad memories attached? No, all good. <3
What genre is this? Er…showtunes? Lol.
Song Number 2: I Am A Rock - Simon and Garfunkel
What's the last line of this song? And an island never cries
Have you ever seen this artist live? No
Why do you like this song? Because it’s Simon and Garfunkel and it’s wonderfully mellow and I love the voice (knowledge fail: I dunno whose it is. But all the voices on my Simon and Garfunkel tape/group of downloaded songs are wonderful. :P). Also, I find the mental picture of this sort of emo teenager hiding away in his room scribbling down poetry slightly amusing.
Song Number 3: New Bop Flip Flop - from my swing CD
What's the first line of this song? I don’t think it has any, oops. I should’ve checked before writing it down…I skipped over all the other lyricless ones.
Where did you first hear this song? On my swing CD. Honestly, I can’t off the top of my head remember what it sounds like or anything. It’s just on a good CD to put on when I feel like dancing around the house.
How about the first time you heard the artist? I have no idea who the artist even is. >.<
Song Number 4: Bicycle Race - Queen
Which friend could this be a theme tune for, and why? Hm. I dunno. Maybe Mark, a guy at college, I think he has a bike.
Write down the chorus:
Bicycle bicycle bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle bicycle bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like
How long is this song? 3:03
Song Number 5: Only the Good Die Young - Billy Joel
What kind of film would you choose this as the theme for? A bad boy/good girl romance, of course. Either that or a movie about some guy going off on a lone road trip and doing a lot of reckless stuff. -shrug-
Best part of this song:
How long have you been listening to this artist? Psh. Forever. I’ve always liked…erm…classic rock is the term I’m supposed to use, right? People get offended when I say “oldies” even though it's just what I’ve always called it… Anyway, yeah, been listening to Billy Joel since forever (although not actually on purpose, more on the radio before I found dad’s The Stranger CD).
Song Number 6: El Condor Pasa (If I Could) - Simon and Garfunkel
The fourth line reads: I surely would
What is the meaning of this song? I think it’s about preferring to be free than tied down. And/or just wanting more than just a mundane sort of life.
Who introduced you to this artist? Dad - in fact, I think a lot of my favorite music comes from him - but I really got into it when I was sick and felt like listening to cassette tapes in my crappy stereo. Went and hunted some up and the only decent one I found was Simon and Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits. (Well, I had Jimmy Buffet’s Greatest Hits, too, but with a cold, I wasn’t really feeling tropical). I subsequently found and downloaded all the songs on the tape. Am still in love.
Song Number 7: Island in the Sun - Weezer
Who does this song make you think of? My cousin, Angela, and the girls she was working with in Canada when I visited her there - this is from my Calgary CD, a CD she made for me before I left of all the songs we listened to during the large amounts of time we spent in the car. :)
What's the cover look like on the album this came from? No idea, but the album cover iTunes set for the Calgary CD is the cover for the Francesca Battistelli album one of the songs came from - the chick sitting on the hood of a car, lots of yellows and blues and a sort of papery/erodey texture over all.
