I have registered my interest in tickets for the 2012 Olympics events. So ... fingers crossed (I will probably now get tickets for the shot put ... or something else I wouldn't normally watch unless put under torture ... no disrespect meant to the shotputters ...)
Went to a good lecture on the history of the Lea Valley - now the home to the new stadium - and heard cool anecdote about what happened to the original 1948 Olympic Track. Must say ... am reading the Mass Observations publications of diary accounts of WWII and post-war ... and I feel quite emotional about us having the Olympics - in a way I wasn't before ... when I think of the austerity years
