not dead!

Just super busy. Lots of time behind the scenes, in the shadows.

Generally, I've been a superbly crappy friend lately. I have an absolute mountain of work to do - though it's better than I thought! I spent all weekend thinking I had an assignment due this week (which was beyond impossible to finish) but it's actually do next week. Now it's possible (and I don't want to drop out of school anymore) but it will still take most of my free time to do it.

It looks like this is going to be the case for the rest of the semester. I had really hoped to have a job, but just finishing up my temp job in my second week of classes has put me so far behind, I am scrambling to catch up. It didn't help that Andy & I drove some 1,800 miles this past weekend. But we're almost done listening to The Deathly Hallows (Stephen Fry version), which is great. We read (and own) the book but it's been a nice road trip project to listen to all of Harry Potter. We're going to the Exhibit at MoS on Thursday, and I hope we can finish it before then! (probably not, but still, good timing!)

I am super thrilled that Matt coffeejedi and Abby la_ardillita are married now. I can't even express how sincerely and deeply pleased I am that they have found each other, and I know they will be happy together for the rest of their lives. I hope they have awesome kids that I get to meet someday.

A good friend of my family passed away. It's a bit more complex than that, but I'd rather respect the family's privacy with regard to details. Regardless, it's pretty shocking and terribly sad (but not tragic because that word means something else to me). His service is on the 27th and I'm really not looking forward to it because I find this whole situation unbearably sad. The last memorial service I went to was some years back, for some family friends who had died in a car accident in a snowstorm in VT.

I only link to the article because the family asks that community service or social justice to be done in Matt's memory, and I think that is a beautiful idea. If you all want to contribute, I'm sure they would appreciate it.

I think that covers everything of importance. I'm really busy, there's lots going on that I'm missing out on and that sucks. I'm trying to keep up with email (and not doing a very good job) and there has been both joy and sorrow around me this month.
