psytrance embracer.

I feel so different after Gratitude. I came home entirely exhausted and void of most energy and couldn't even sleep right away. Laying down in bed was strange, my brain was racing and felt like it had been in a different world for twelve hours. Like the normal world was entirely foreign and I had to get used to it, a mere 25 hours from when I left it.

Gratitude was by far the best and most liberating psytrance experience I've ever had. The people were so kind and welcoming, the music was all amazing, the venue was stunning. I feel like I discovered a new sliver of myself, and I did it without anything but a change of atmosphere and an amazing party.

I woke up at noon on January 2nd, alive and ready for a party five and a half hours away. I picked up Sean and this Lebanese girl Noura, who was visiting the US from Dubai. She's awesome and goes to psytrance festivals in Europe, and tried out one in the US for the first time.

The venue was in the middle of downtown Des Moines and completely decked out. UV lights with tapestries, hangings, live UV airbrush artist, UV/LED vending, UV body painting, and amazing DJ stage. And that was only the psytrance room. There was the chill room with couches and incense and tapestries, a dubstep/drum N bass/dark psy stage and dance floor covered in UV tapestries, and another room with silk screen artists and a banner anyone could paint with UV paints. Not to mention a bar till 2am and coffee and tea afterwards. I was surprised that there were so few people. Even the party host (Abe) made attempts to have meaningful conversations with people he didn't know.

The music was all amazing. Every last artist was just so good. It was really nice to be at a party where almost all the artists weren't from around the area. I had a good conversation with Ansel from Freakeasy, and he brought these amazing LED sticks. I was surprised at the lack of any substances save some LSD, and I spent my whole night trancing my brains out drug free. It was pretty amazing. I met so many people and everyone was really welcoming. We didn't leave till 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning, and I feel a little bad for making them leave, but I wasn't going to make it awake much longer.http://www.livejournal.com/update.bml

I napped for an hour at about 8:45am somewhere in Illinois, but after that were were in Chicagoland before I knew it. Getting home was weird, I was physically a mess. Home has never felt so foreign or boring or strange. I could spend all my nights like last night, coated in UV and dancing however my soul wanted to dance.

There's not enough words or even existing words to explain how wonderful last night and this morning was.
