I called in sick today. I just can not shake this cold. It's a normal cold and I suppose I'm whining a bit, however, the last thing I need to do is haul myself into my office, snuffling and wheezing and sit there doing joe jobs.

My boss is leaving for Panama on Sunday for a vacation with his wife. His mistress (or one of them) is not liking that one little bit. Previously she'd given him an ultimatum....leave his wife by the time she (the mistress) turns 50 or she (the mistress) will leave him, break the business apart (they're also business partners) and move back to Virginia. Adios. Well, she's been 50 for a year or so now and she's still here. She honestly believes she is his soulmate and he just needs to work up the nerve to leave a bully of a wife and a clingy family. Of course, he views her as a convenient piece of tail on the side (one of a couple). He says he's found his companion in life with his wife. His family is "clingy" because they are close. He has no desire to change that or leave.

One day it will all implode and I'll be in the middle. Again.

So anyway, Panama. I think my boss is getting senile. He's heading down there to investigate some sort of real estate franchise. Not to sell properties that are here....but to sell property in Panama from here. How the hell can you sell Panamanian property from Halifax, Nova Scotia?? I see all kinds of red lights going off and alarm bells ringing and red flags waving but he's being all charmed and bamboozled. I just hope he's not being suckered.

Real estate has slowed to a crawl lately. My boss has lots of listings that just aren't selling. Frankly, I'm shocked that some of them are still on the market. I fear the problems with the American real estate market and economy have begun to have a negative effect on ours. However, the market usually slows down around this time regardless so perhaps we're just seeing that finally happen. Doesn't matter. It has the boss feeling a bit panicked. I've begun to cut back on my hours so that he doesn't feel the pinch so much.

Another bright sunny day out there. Looks all lovely and warm when you're sitting here on the chesterfield staring out the window....step outside the door and you freeze your bits off.
