As usual, no clever title

I was ordered to work from home all week to finish a large application of doom but I now officially give in and will be heading back to the office any longer. Working from home for this amount of time is driving me stir crazy. I'm too used to an open plan office and a gazillion clients. I've been so bored that I am entirely caught up on all my washing and dusting. That never happens. And that even after I cheated on Monday and Tuesday to pop in for a meeting and then a hearing.

When I was initially told I had to get this done and work from home for a week I was a weensy bit worried as I complete control freak (with good reason,I left the office for 4 hours and came back to discover someone had broken and emptied one of my filing cabinets. Then piled them up out of order). However since we got the news about redundancies I was kind of relieved to be away from the drama.

Ah yes, the redundancys. I doubt many people will know but when the legal services commission decided on which firms get to have family law contracts this year they made major changes. As in they have not given contacts to approximately 46% of the solicitors that applied in the UK. There are a number of city's which no have only a small handful of suppliers. My firm is not as badly hit as some others as we have retained to of our contracts, but as we lost the one for the main office. Therefore redundancys. A number of firms no-longer have any contracts at all. There will be significant impact on the profession and on the system. And considering some of the places that have lost their contracts? Kiss access to justice goodbye.

I suspect that the legal Services Commission have no idea what they just did, unless the plan was to self destruct. Which it may be. I have a large soap box I could get on and rant from, but I'm kinda worn out on it now.

Luckily I have had some fun diversions. I went to see both A-Team and the Karate Kid. Luckily I have neither shame or standards, so I enjoyed the cheesy goodness. I went to a lovely wedding in the countryside and was force fed Cat's lethal cosmo's. Last weekend I had Kate, Sarah & Chris to visit and forced chocolate raspberry pavolova and almond cake on them. I'm a feeder. Plus from Dad I got some good red wine. Actually the last few weeks have involved a lot of red wine, especially on evenings when I have been working from home. Clearly I should go in to the office for medicinal reasons.

I just need to finish this stupid application so I can finally get to the large pile of shiny new books (retail therapy is probably not the best way to deal with news of redundancy but at least it's books, not shoes).
