It has been oddly quiet at work this week meaning I have been leaving at 5 each day and even took a half day today just because I could. As a result of the free time I have been able to visit my great aunt in hospital, finish off a number of dramas (Man Who Can't Marry and Lovers-both very good with nice comedic touches)and get all domestic (cooking and sorting and buying yet more cake tins).
Of course after a few days I was bored stiff so I dragged Kirsty out for noodles and a drink. We ended up in a bar we usually walk past and feel we're too old for. Inside the decor was amazing, it had sofas, great prints and lots of random tea pots scattered around. I seriously covet the mirrors (made from broken china crockery) and they appeared to have more hot drinks then types of alcohol. This would usually mean it would be my new favourite place in the world, even if I was a decade older then half the clientele. Except we went on a performance night without realising it. We wandered down to the other end of the room to see what was going on and were treated to some gentle background music which lulled us into a false sense of security. We both have jobs with interesting clients so neither of us blinked at the guy wandering around with a teddy bear attached to him. However when the elederly poet came on stage with a girl dressed as a polar bear I may have seemed a little stunned. It's not polite to comment on the poetry (I may qoute bits to my guests this weekend, it's bound to amuse Phil) or the girl's dancing but I imagine my expression said it all. It's nice to know Liverpool still has it's little pockets of utter randomness.
Another strange moment came today when I was purchasing a cake tin, the women at the counter asked me if I intended to bake a cake. When I said yes, she stated I must be in a caring profession. I had to smirk.
Right, enough of this I had better get back to watching Spooks. I'm at season 6 which seems to be very Iran focused. I imagine it is going to irritate me immensly but at least it's nice to be able to pick up the odd random word of farsi. It's also making me crave rice but then most things do.
