restaurant reviews, part 36

Holy moly it's been forever and a day since I've done this. All I've got left are some tiny scribbled notes for some of them.

Sam Po - 277 Pacific Ave
So this is the place that replaced the place that replaced the Dim Sum Garden. Cheap, meh, a couple decent items, loads of MSG.

Carnaval Brazilian BBQ - 270 Waterfront Dr - http://www.carnavalrestaurant.ca/
Fixed price all-you-can meat buffet. Oh sure you can order non-meat things... but why? Basically you go there and get seated, and they give you a little card that's red on one side and green on the other. As long as your card is green side up, they keep bringing you assorted fresh bbq right off the grill. It's somewhat expensive and worth trying once for the experience, but personally I don't think I'd go again. It was good don't get me wrong, but very heavy. The first few bites are amazing, but then all the salts start weighing you down.

Casa Grande - 984 Sargeant Ave
Good food, big portions, MASSIVE pizza. Seriously, their extra large puts others to shame. Prices are actually very reasonable considering how much you get. One of the pizzas is piled high with cured Italian meats; I doubt I could buy those meats for any cheaper myself.

Kimbaek Restaurant - 193 Isabel
This was so long ago all I have is the following notes: Korean, pancake good, salty ribs, soup is storebought, msg.

Hong Du Kkae - 2241 Pembina
Another of the numerous new Korean restaurants popping up around the south end. Some people seem to really like it here, but I find it really kinda generic.

Tavern United - http://www.tavernunited.com/index.php
I'm only making a note here that the burgers at the Tavern near Polo Park are fantastic. Also, for sharing and sheer volume you can't beat the Irish Potato Nachos.

NuBurger - next to Sobey's at Kenaston Commons
Is this the expanded Unburger? Lots of fancy options, and overall it was good. Honestly though, I'd rather have the burger at Tavern.
