20 years ago... and now

Then: Did everything I could to get out to the mall even if it meant walking 6 miles.
Now: Do everything I can to avoid the mall entire mall area even if it means taking the long route.

Then: I was a born again Christian.
Now: I walk the path of nature and the shaman way.

Then: Said goodbye to Randy and didn’t see or talk to him for 6 years.
Now: We’ve been married 4 years as of June 24th.

Then: Didn’t have any friends.
Now: ZOMG how do I keep up with all the birthdays, and baby showers, and going ons?!?!?

Then: Worked part-time in retail and lived paycheck to paycheck.
Now: Work part-time in education and no longer live paycheck to paycheck.

Then: Drank my first series of Long Island Iced Teas.
Now: Drink water.

Then: When I heard people say the word prima donna I thought it was pre-Madonna. Meaning, the era before Madonna became popular.
Now: I avoid prima donnas at all costs. Still like Madonna though.

Then: Stayed out all night on a regular basis.
Now: Can’t wait to go to bed pretty much every night.

Then: Wore earrings in all three holes in each ear.
Now: Think all but the bottom holes in each ear have closed up.

Then: Had never been out of the country.
Now: Have been to 4 countries (U.K.*, Japan, Costa Rica, Peru).

*Technically not a country but that’s how I refer to my Scotland, Ireland, London trip.

Then: Didn’t want any children.
Now: Trying trying trying so hard to have even just one child!!

Then: Going to school at the local community college.
Now: Teaching at the same local community college.

Then: Got hurt easily and held grudges.
Now: Still get hurt easily, own my shit, and get over it.

Then: Running
Now: Running much slower. But still running.

Then: Never saw “Dances with Wolves”
Now: Still haven’t seen “Dances with Wolves” (but it is on my Netflix list)

Then: Didn’t think much beyond the tip of my nose.
Now: Recycle, hold the Earth in prayer, use Earth friendly products, help my friends whenever they ask, send cards and love to Mom, read read read and educate myself constantly, learn from my mistakes, donate

Today is my 40th birthday.
