Home is where the void is...

There's a difference between living in a house and living in a home.

Randy and I lived in our last place for 14 years and it never felt like a home. It was just this place where we kept our things and had a bed.

When we moved out, the neighbors down the hall upgraded from their one bedroom into our two bedroom. We went over there a couple of days ago to swim and watch the local fireworks show. I went inside our old place and it had a completely different feel. It was homey, comfortable, and lovely.

I have not had that my entire adult life. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've had that my entire life. I have lived in house after house, box after box.

Randy and I are like two bachelor men living together. We are clueless as to how to decorate and how to make a place a home.

I feel as empty some days as our house feels void.

the truth is...
