*Does a little joy dance*

Part 3 in Clive Barker's Abarat series is set to be published this autumn! It's called The scarlet gospels, and I think the cover'll be green (well, it would make sense) and it's so on top of my want-to-read list!

I know, I've been waiting and waiting!
I read Mr. B. Gone in the meantime, and was decisively unimpressed :( But this is what I've been waiting for, and one of the rare occasions when I'll buy a hardback edition rather than a paperback one. At first I didn't think it possible there'd ever BE a paperback edition of Abarat, since plain text and no pictures take away SO much from the story. The hardback edition is SO worth the money.
I'd love to have one of his paintings, actually.

Same here, I too have only hardbacks as well, they aren't what they are supposed to be without his illustrations. And yes, how sweet would it be to have a Clive Barker-painting in your livingroom! I'd be ecstatic. :D

I don't think that is being an art snob, I think that is being the opposite of a snob when it comes to art - all the art "knowers" seem to applaud every time some two-color piece that looks like it could be done better by a 2yo with accidental access to Windows Paint... and what does THAT really say? They can call those pieces "the desperation of mankind as they seek life's meaning" and such all they like, I still just see bloody stripes. So I agree, if I can do it, it's NOT art. Haha.

I own two huge paintings, custom done for me by an artist friend of my father's. One I got for my confirmation, and one I just got because I had commented on a similar piece he had done and so my father had him do another, in a slightly altered manner to suit my tastes better. I LOVE those two paintings, and will forever. I can't wait to hang them up on walls of my own. Beautiful art that means something to you truly will transform a room into something that is absolutely your home and haven, in my opinion.

Ooo this was long, sorry :p
