I never thought I would be greeted at a restaurant with the phrase, "Whaddya have?"
Even though I was not at an upscale dining facility, i was still kind of offended.
Offended enough to look at her and say, "Excuse me???"
...then it dawned on me that I was in the south.
So this is how the greeting ended up:
server: "whaddya have?"
me: "umm...excuuuse me???"
*pause*
me: "oooh...right. umm I'll have a cherry sprite, please."
*server walks away*
*taralyn gives appalled look towards server and then to friend*
i then had to ask my friend if this was a normal greeting or if i should plan on not leaving a tip.
