Gotham sucks, Bludhaven sucks, and most especially, chicks who attack people in Robin costumes suckKon probably shouldn't have agreed to this at all. But the fact was when Tim asked for something, he pretty much got it (mostly, anyway), and Kon was a sucker for when he needed help. So he did it, he got attacked, and ( Read more... )

There's a shadow, if a shadow can have colours. A flash of red and green and gold, a whisper of colour in the darkness of an alley, but it's not even really there...

There's something about the Robin costume. There's something ... Robins are important, and she's ... she's got to find it. She's got to be ... no, that's not right ... she knows that face, and she knows that costume, but they don't go together ... she gathers herself together, as much as she can, and hovers closer, trying to understand.

Kon's been getting better at the sight thing lately. When one can hear things better, and smell things better ( gotham and bludhaven, spice and something off, something polluted), see better... well, they learn. So he catches the shadow quickly.

It's not right. It's strange.

"What's there?" He asks, almost sharply.

...Robin...

She isn't strong enough to make sounds. She's barely strong enough to be somewhere, instead of diffusing into the smoky Gotham air. But this person - he knows her. And she would know him, if she could just remember how...

She drifts, and she tries to bring herself into focus. She has to. It's ... important. Just her face, even. He has to see. He can ... help?

She's not sure. It's hard to be this real.

It's.... fuzzy, it's fading, but if he squints... he can almost see it. What he does see, he can't quite believe it. He almost doubts his sight.

"....Steph?"

It's impossible. Isn't it?

A sigh, not heard with the ears, and a smile. Hi.

It's much easier to focus when there's someone focusing back. She feels the strands of consciousness draw together a little when he speaks her name; names have power, she remembers, and she remembers where she read that, and ... I'm here. It's me!

He reachs out, as if he can touch her; but he stops before it would never connect. He doesn't... it...

What's going on?

"How?"

Don't know. Tried to... (an image of a flaming portal, demons, a Slayer with multicoloured hair) ...wound up here. She drifts, feeling the edges start to blur again already. Tell - tell them I'm here? She does not say 'tell them I'm okay' because she's not sure that she is; she hopes Kon won't notice that. Drifting...

"Do you want me to get someone to help? Get you out of here?" This isn't right. It doesn't seem right at all. "We miss you."

Miss you too, Steph manages to say. (A handful of names tumble into his head - Jason, Mel, Barry, Dick, everyone she's met in the bar.) Miss you. Can't ... can't focus ... 'm okay, though.

And she's gone. There's a gust of wind, sudden and gentle, and the shadows are suddenly emptier.

And Gotham is a little less bright.

Kon can't see how that's okay at all. He can't... it's too worrying. But he'll do what she wants, he'll do what she says, and maybe...

Maybe someone will figure something out.
