The Aselia wiki page! Personality:
Initially, Seles probably comes off as simply a rigid, somewhat cold noble girl with some Big Brother-related issues… and, yeah, that’s at least partly correct.
Seles has an extremely difficult time being open with her feelings and expressing what she really wants and needs from the people around her. She is very proud and stubborn, and is always trying to put on the front of a cool, refined, detached noble. It’s difficult to get her to be honest about her emotions, and those that care for her have to learn to read her signals to find out what she is feeling at that moment, since… well, she’ll be damned if she’s going to tell anyone. What’s the point in that? Be serious.
But, try as she might, she doesn’t hide a sour mood that well, and is prone to snapping at people when bogged down with any sort of negative emotion. (Which is almost all of the time.) Even in her good moods, she can come off as cold and uncaring, almost to the point of harshness. Her true self is surrounded by a thick, murky glass wall; though you can sometimes see a bit of what’s going on inside her, it can be difficult to make any sort of sense out of it. And that’s good enough for her.
Seles, naturally, has difficult forming close, personal relationships. She has no interest in making friends, and has little faith on others. She does not give, and will not accept what others try to offer her. People who are interested in her are kept at arms length. Attempts at building friendly relationships only fluster her, and tend to cause suspicion (“What does this person want? Why are they being so nice?”). She is alone and, consciously or not, she tends to ensure that she will stay that way.
She is not a complete ice queen, though. Even if she doesn’t express it well (or at all), she’s caring and fiercely protective of her loved ones, those lucky enough to earn that distinction. Since she does not express that in words, though, she tends to try and express it in action - trying to help an important person through a difficult journey, perhaps, or giving up an important item as soon as it’s asked of her. Nothing is too much for someone she truly cares for.
What she lacks in basic friend-making abilities, she makes up for in sheer will and a steadfast determination that seems to contradict her “cool, refined lady” persona. If Seles Wilder wants something, she will do her damnedest to get it. If she wants to travel with her big brother, well… those guards at her door can just go sit on a pike. She will go to Zelos, house arrest be damned, and she will prove herself to him... even if she has to muscle through a nasty cough, break into a coliseum, and kick some ass to do it.
This stubbornness has a drawback, though. Once she’s convinced that something is “true” or “false” or whatever, nothing except for visible, tangible evidence can convince her otherwise. She’ll believe it when she sees it, damnit.
Despite her imprisonment in the Southeast Abby and her own weak constitution, being idle does not suit Seles. She is always seeking to improve herself in some way - be it her studies, martial arts, or physical endurance. She tries to view her sickly body as less of a hindrance, and more of a challenge -- an obstacle to overcome, no matter how debilitating and frustrating. Thus, she is somewhat resentful of her house arrest… but she has come to see it as an inescapable sort of thing. It’s something that will always be, and absolutely nothing can change that. Surely.
In all, Seles is simply an elegant, deceptively strong, somewhat bitter teenage girl who has some issues with expressing herself.
Extra:
Character Abilities: Even though Seles has always had a frail, sickly constitution, she still has some strengths in combat.
Due to her Elven blood, Seles is capable of casting magic spells, though she only seems to be proficient in Ice- and Light-based attacks.
She is also equipped with an Exsphere, which amplifies the potential of a living being by a large amount. Even though she is still somewhat sickly, the power of the Exsphere gives her considerable strength in combat. That, when combined with her already impressive knowledge of martial arts and swordplay, can make her formidable.
At least, unless she’s fallen ill. Even an Exsphere can’t really help when that happens.
Aside from physical abilities, Seles is also quite well-read. Though she is a little naïve to the ways of the world (always having been stuck inside, due to a weak body and then that whole HOUSE ARREST thing), and sometimes a little awkward in social situations, she is quite intelligent in other aspects. Reading and studying is a good escape from monotony, after all, and she’s had nearly a decade to apply to it.
Possessions: Clothes, naturally. She also carries a somewhat large purse that still looks too small for it to logically fit all the junk she carries in it (A large broadsword, an equally large shield, and two magic wands, titled Star Cannon and Mini Meteor, all fit in that thing. Somehow.)
Also, the hat. Don’t go anywhere without one.
Anything else: It’s possible that Seles is also carrying a sword, titled Last Fencer, along with her as well, since it’s possible for the team to win it off her in the Meltokio Coliseum. I’m pretty sure it’s not the same one she uses in battle, though.

The Exsphere gleamed in her palm. If she didn’t know any better, she’d think it was hoping she’d use it.
But that was silly. And not relevant in the least.
Where had Tokunaga gotten this? Whenever she asked, he’d brush it off and change the subject. Oh, he tried to be subtle and sneaky about it, but Seles was nobody’s fool. She could tell something was off about this.
But that wasn’t relevant, either. Tokunaga’s business was his own, and she trusted him more than (almost) anyone.
She rolled it between her fingers for a moment, and held it up to the light. It shone a bright, fiery red.
(She tried to ignore how much that color reminded her of her brother and his long, wavy hair. Had he cut it since she’d last seen him? She didn’t think it likely, but it was possible.)
No, none of that was important to her at the moment. The only thing that mattered was the burning question: Would she use it?
… Well, perhaps it wasn’t so burning a question. When she actually thought of it, the choice was obvious.
She didn’t know what the Chosen was up to, but it was obviously something big. Words go around, and she has heard a thing or two about his journey with his strange companions. It sounded like he’d been on the run from the law for a bit, too.
Obviously, it was something important, for that guy to be traveling so far from Meltokio, going through so much trouble for apparent strangers. Obviously, it was dangerous business. Obviously, he couldn’t expect to handle this alone.
Obviously, the Chosen One will need another capable hand to help him through all of it.
That’s the only reason, of course. The Chosen of Mana is extremely important to the well-being of Tethe’alla, and if something happened to him, Martel only knew what would happen if he was needed. She was only doing her duty as a citizen of this world.
She paused in her examination of the stone. Is that really all? a voice asked in the back of her mind. Didn’t she want to travel with her big brother? To spend quality time with him? To help and protect him?
To make up for lost time, maybe?
She dismissed these thoughts quickly, and set to work. Tokunaga had told her how to use the Exsphere, and she had everything she needed right with her (the Exsphere and a Key Crest, pretty much.) Undoing the first few buttons on her blouse, she brought them to place below her neck.
The warmth reminded her again of her brother, and, despite everything, she found that she was excited to see him.
