So much has gone on that I'll do my best to keep in brief by just listing some highlights.
Graduation was anti-climactic in a good way. I was able to see aunts, uncles, cousins, and more immediate family. Being quite the family person I was very pleased, and especially enjoyed our boistrous dinner out at the Old Spaghetti Factory (not that you'll ever read this, but thank you Mart!).
Then it was up to Oregon for me for quite a sullen and otherwise melodramatic Christmas (it was the first Christmas we've had without my grandpa, and then there's always the fun that still comes from my parent's divorce nearly two decades ago). I was able to spend some quality time with both sides of the family though, and even worked in my dad's office for a few days. It was fun to see faces I hadn't seen in awhile- the joy of growing up in a small town is that when you come back it seems like time stood still between visits. I was also able to visit for a few minutes with my best friend from highschool who's all grown up and working in a law firm now!
No trip to Oregon would be complete without visiting the crazy cousins in Medford. This visit involved Mexican gangbangers, stolen guns, mountain lions, and an exploding Subaru. You know, a typical visit.
After weather and traveling difficulties I finally made it back to Sacramento last week, only to get on the road again Friday on an impromptu roadtrip to the Los Angeles area. My roommate Janelle loves driving, and I love sleeping, so the trip down just flew by. We were able to spend a night and day with Jess in Palmdale, who I hadn't seen in a year, and then my Aunt and and cousins in Agoura Hills. Let me tell you, a day sunbathing on a beach in Malibu in January is hard to beat. I felt like I was more than a drive away from home, it felt like a full fledged vacation, especially with my strawberry pinacolada served in the sand (virgin of course!).
Then, to wrap up this grand adventure, last night I attended my very first NBA game in Oakland. The Miami Heat was playing the Golden State Warriors and we had amazing seats courtesy of Heather's boss who has season tickets and couldn't make the game. I could see the sweat drip off Shaq!
Of course, this upcoming weekend will be anything less than boring. I have my first photoshoot at noon on Saturday, and then Elizabeth and I are going to be on a panel to judge upcoming TV sitcoms.
I truly live a charmed life... it's one adventure after another.
