Summary: The extended Weasley clan does a Secret Santa and Draco gets the perfect gift from someone he never expected.

Draco wasn’t sure how they’d gotten him to agree to do Secret Santa. It was obvious he’d been spending far too much time with Gryffindors considering his Slytherin counterparts wouldn’t be caught dead participating in something like this. But here he was.

It was a little awkward still to be at the Weasley family home, especially for Christmas. Not that he had any family to celebrate with anymore, so it was also kind of nice. He wasn’t sure he enjoyed this big production of opening presents though.

Almost everyone had opened their presents already. In fact, Draco was the only one who hadn’t. He tried to ignore all the eyes on him as he held his package, turning it over and over again as he tried to figure out what it was. The looks on some of the others’ faces made him think they already knew, which was a bit worrying.

“Hurry up and open it!” Ginny called from the other side of the living room, drawing laughs from the rest of the group.

Draco huffed, pretending to be annoyed, but he started unwrapping his present. He uncovered a shallow box, which he pulled the top off of before he stopped in shock. Inside was a portrait of him with his parents, both of them looking far more relaxed and open than he’d ever seen them in life. They were smiling, just a little, and looking down at the him in the portrait with unmistakable fondness.

“How?” Draco asked breathlessly, not looking away from the portrait. He could feel tears gathering in his eyes and he inhaled sharply, trying to will them away.

“A friend of a friend specializes in these sorts of portraits,” Charlie said from a couple of seats away. “I thought you might appreciate it more than anything else I could get you.”

Draco looked up at him, surprised but incredibly grateful. He would have thought Hermione or maybe even Harry or Ron was his Secret Santa. They knew him best since they’d grown up together, even if they had only really been friends since the end of the war. But it was Charlie who had chosen him the perfect gift.

Out of everyone there for an overstuffed Weasley Christmas, Charlie was one of the ones Draco knew the least. But, he had to admit, Charlie was also the one he found the most intriguing. He was handsome and charming and obviously very sweet. And very much a Weasley. Just the kind of guy Draco’s parents would have been horrified to find out he was crushing on.

With all of the presents open, and with Charlie having prematurely announced which gift was his, everyone started revealing who their Secret Santa giftee had been. Draco paused long enough to tell Hermione he was the one to have gotten her the first edition runes book before letting himself drift through the laughing, talking crowd closer to Charlie.

“Thank you for the portrait, it’s wonderful,” Draco said when he finally made it through the press of other Weasleys.

Charlie smiled, sweet like always, and Draco felt butterflies in his gut. “You’re welcome,” Charlie said easily. “I was really glad I got picked as your Secret Santa actually.”

“Oh?” Draco asked, flushing. He felt like Charlie was flirting with him, but that surely couldn’t be what was happening. He was imagining things, certainly.

“Well, it gave me an excuse to talk to you now, didn’t it?” He winked, face a little pinker than normal. Draco was intrigued because it seemed like maybe he wasn’t imagining things after all.

Just as Draco opened his mouth to say something else, Molly called that dinner was ready, and everyone made a beeline for the dining room. Draco made to go that way too, but Charlie caught his hand, stopping him. Draco looked over, tilting his head in question, and Charlie smiled at him.

“Sit by me?”

Draco flushed and nodded, pleased more than he thought he’d be that Charlie seemed to want to spend time with him. Charlie’s smile widened and together they headed for the dining room. Charlie held his hand the whole way.
