Summary: Harry is everything that Percy aspires not to be, but Merlin, Percy wants him

Percy Weasley was not the kind of person that one would describe as exciting. That wasn’t to say that Percy didn’t lead an exciting life, but rather his idea of excitement was rather different to that of other people’s.

Percy loved to work, and always had done. Whether it was reading a book and learning something new, or navigating the political world of the Ministry, Percy thrived in it. Percy loved the feeling of freshly pressed suits, and seeing a neat head of hair in the mirror. Browns and beiges were colours which gave Percy a feeling of warmth and calm, and he got a thrill out of demonstrating his intelligence to others.

Yes, Percy was somebody who most would consider particular, and he quite agreed with that statement-which was why he couldn’t fathom where his attraction towards Harry Potter had come from.

Harry was wild, both in character and look. His inky black hair seemed to defy gravity, and his plaid shirts and baggy jeans made him look like a singer out of one of those Muggle grunge bands which Ginny was so fond of. Harry never thought before acting, often came round with bruised knuckles and scuffed knees from rough-housing with the other Aurors or during Quidditch games, and had no problem expressing his distaste with the Ministry.

He was everything that Percy wasn’t-that Percy aspired not to be-but Merlin, Percy wanted him. Whenever Harry came round to the Burrow Percy found himself drawn to the lean form of Harry’s back, the plump curve of his arse, the fullness of his red lips…

Percy had tried to ignore his growing feelings, trying to tell himself logically why he and Harry wouldn’t work as a couple. No matter what Percy came up with, however, was thrown aside the next time he saw Harry smiling at him.

Control was something that Percy exceeded at, but he was losing it against Harry. Percy was no stranger to having to give things up in order to keep his life on track, but somehow the more he tried to push his feelings for Harry away, the more he wanted him.

It was as Christmas approached that Percy came to a startling realisation-he had fallen in love with Harry. Love defied logic and common sense, and it was impossible for Percy to fight against it. He remembered something his mother used to tell him when he’d been younger and tried to deny the many Christmas cookies she’d shove at him; ‘Christmas is all about giving in to temptation. If you can’t enjoy yourself at Christmas, when can you enjoy yourself?’

So with all that considered, Percy’s mind was made up. Though his siblings insisted he should have been in Slytherin or Ravenclaw, his Gryffindor side was still very much there; once he wanted to do something, he’d do it, no matter the consequences. True, he’d think about the consequences more than the average Gryffindor, but once he’d said yes there was no going back.

It was at the annual Burrow Christmas Party that Percy was planning on making his move, while the rest of his family would be too distracted by drink and food to pay much attention to him.

Harry was standing in a corner of the room, a bright smile lighting his face as he laughed at something Ginny was saying. Merlin, he was a mess, with holes in his jeans and a shirt two-sizes too big, but he was so beautiful it made Percy’s knees weak just to look at him. He couldn’t even be nervous about revealing his feelings to Harry, because Harry was just too damn kind to mock him for it, even if he didn’t feel the same way.

“Excuse me,” Percy murmured as he approached them, tapping Harry’s shoulder to catch his attention. “Do you mind if I borrow you for a moment, Harry?”

“Sure,” Harry smiled, following Percy away from the main party room and to the deserted, quiet pantry. “Is everything alright?”

“Yes, fine, fine,” Percy said quickly, panic gripping him all at once. He wasn’t afraid of Harry laughing at him, but what if Harry said no? What then?! “I-”

“You look nice tonight,” Harry stated, looking Percy up and down. “You’ve very handsome; easily the best looking Weasley brother.”

“Am I?” Percy gasped in surprise, puffing his chest out proudly. “Well, actually, Harry, I wanted to talk to you about...you see…”

“Percy,” Harry cut in, stalling Percy before he could horrify himself anymore at his sudden lack of communication skills. “Please, just kiss me already.”

That was something Percy could do.

He surged forwards, wrapping his arms around Harry and pulling him close against him as he kissed Harry soundly. Harry’s lips were soft and warm, and tasted sweet, like sugar and cinnamon. Harry was having to push up on his tiptoes to kiss Percy, and somehow that thought delighted Percy.

They finally broke apart for air, leaving Harry’s lips plump and bruised.

“If you can’t give in to temptation at Christmas…” Harry grinned, before pressing up to kiss Percy once more.
