it's terrible how comfort keeps us silent. i know all too well. sometimes its just way too much to digest at once, and too little mellow drama to put into a series...

in other news, i have begun reading the work of Kathleen Dante, though some of it i am disappointed in.

actually, a Lot of this genre i am disappointed in.

I have to admit, As a writer, and a reader, an erotic novel, with ACTUAL plot is something i have actually wanted to attempt. But with writing, at what point in the writing process is too much? Too disgusting? Too emotionally raw? Also, at what point does the novel lose it's credibility of being a 'good' read and become SMUT?

Those who have read D. H Laurence's 'Lady Chatterley's Lover'-is it smut or not? I think it's a novel that blends the fragility of the human sexual character with self discovery amazingly. Heroically in fact! Have I seen many author's do something similar without avoiding triviality? no.

I have always wanted to attempt writing something like it though. The closest I got was a near-rape scene between two Greek god characters in a contemporary setting, in 9th grade- my teacher was very disturbed but could not not give me an A + :P

On another note, those Males out there - I have assumed you are all of very visual nature. Have any of you indulged in an erotic novel before? Some part in me actually suspects it's too much for you guys to handle. I don't believe a picture is worth the words they say, and that those words have a thousand meanings, compounding even.
