jello doesn't even come close to cutting it

This morning i woke up from a Gravol filled haze and kept thinking that none of it had happened, but the outlines from the tape where the IV sat proved to me otherwise.

The last thing i remember clearly was friday. I went to work (10 - 430). My mom, who as off work that day came to visit me with a friend. Everything was completely normal.

That night we watched the Haiti telethon and laughed at how Brad Pitt is looking more and more like the Idomo guy every time we see him ( hair much!). Had a 2 glasses of wine, ( a norm for friday) and was at this friend's place talking. A girls night it. It was wonderful.

It never occurred to me that the slight paining and bloating in my neck and under my chin should have been a warning sign of something. I get weird pains all the time, so i just ignored it.

I went home around 10 30 and went to bed. Then everything kinda goes blank, like TV fuzz. Little snippets are vaguely memorable, but due to pride and the sheer disgustingness of them- i'm not share them.

During the blank - between 11pm - 6am, i became violently ill. Like violent with a capital V. Every 3-5 minutes i was on the toilet heaving. My head said : maybe it was the alcohol ( but i only had 2 glasses of wine, so it couldn't be), then i thought FOOD POISONING ( i had chicken and spinach salad, which spells samonella and ecoli) but i later found out it wasn't.

Because i was sick so much and for so long, i couldn't keep anything down- meaning water was the only thing coming out of my body. My mother woke up from the smell of sick to find that i was convulsing and heaving. She was really worried.

She snapped right into 'Mama Bear' mode. Called an ambulance then and there. They told my mum to get me to the hospital quick and that the ambulance wouldn't be as fast as her driving me.
The nurse on the phone tried to get a couple of questions out of me, about what happened, but she couldn't really make sense of my. I was delirious and convulsing so my voice was totally weird.

I've never spent so little time in a hospital emergency waiting room in my life. 10 mins and i was in. I was put in a wheel chair because i couldn't trust my balance anymore, and put right on to a bed.

The first nurse was a complete MORON. The have to take your blood and do tests, so she was putting in the needle, when i told her that i needed to sit up and puke. I WARNED her. She didn't listen, so i involuntarily sprang up and was sick into a towel my mum had brought with us (incase), while the nurse kept saying "be still" because my arm was spouting blood. My mom kept saying " she told you she was going to be sick, and she can't sat still laying down or she will choak". Looking back at it, it was pretty hilarious. Especially the look on the nurses face when i up-chucked. It was only water at that point, so it wasn't completely gross.

Another nurse came in and took my vitals. My body temperature was dropping, my heart rate was really fast, and my blood pressure which is normally low, was dropping drastically. My vision looked like an LSD trip. The nurse explained to me later ( as i was incohearent at the time) that my body was shutting down from dehydration. The convulsions and short breathing was body shock. My high heart rate and low blood pressure was because my blood was becoming sticky from no water and my heart was trying really hard to push it around my body. She thanked my mom for bringing me so quickly. Turns out, any longer and i wouldn't have made it.

It took three large IV bags, 10 blankets, 4 cups of water, 2 cups of ice chips and an ounce of apple juice to get me back to a 'normal' level of hydration. I've been on a liquid diet since. Might upgrade to jell-o later today, i'm excited!!

I got some sort of bad stomach bug that lasts a couple of days. Everyone BE CAREFUL!! seriously, you can die from it, or rather from the effects of the dehydration. If you start being sick, and can't keep anything down- have someone with you who you can count on to take you to the hospital.
