life, tonight

Oct 24, 2009 22:11

Confound the arts and thieves tonight
in lamps, the city looks alive
it's our right, in our thighs
to fee born to die
" but it's an alright, an alright life"

Trading scars up and down the street
we wax poetic about our eccentricities
cursing our charlatan ways in the deep
dark circles of the company we keep

*chorus*
oh but it's alright ( we say we say)
it's alright ( tonight tonight)
we'll make up up ( we say we say)
in another life

and we say we are, more than we are
more than our old guitars,
down in the bars tonight
but 'we call it on both sides, an alright life'

counting off our best one-liners, like our friend's names
we are. Ourselves, alone to blame
getting paid, in pay, the price for the exchange
for the sense of the
search our pockets for change

*chorus*
' oh but it's alright.....'

at our counter... parts, we smile and wave
laugh when someone calls us 'baby'
it's not alright
but for the day

we say...

*chorus*
