Ok, I need this one explained...

I'm serious, I really do need this explained. I think (because my mother has a similar laugh) and I have been told for eons, that I have a loud, ear-splitting cackle. I have tried to control it, make sure my mouth is aimed away from people's ear drums, even just stopped because it seemed to offend or cause physical pain to so many people. Now I ( Read more... )

Yes, we miss it. I can't say it ever caused pain BUT you send a wave of joy whenever you laugh- in a word, you broadcast.

Perhaps that's what everyone is missing...the Ming transmission!

paranoia kicking in again, eh? you are not a freak of nature, and I for one never stated or implied that you were. so there.

the laugh is like taking a shot- a concentrated dose of Ming-ness. We must like you, or something.
and besides- the associations are usually great memories- you only laugh like that if you are really enjoying it, there is no faking that laugh, and when you were having that much fun, we were too.

Not paranoia at all. I just don't understand... I'm not looking for stroking here.

What was looking for was the answer that you and revmama eventually came around to. It is a sound association, whether you like or it causes pain, that you have with positive memories. That is what I needed to understand that.

My association with my own laugh is less than positive, so that's why I can't fathom people missing it.
