Well, this sucks. I have had to regretably conclude my arm is not yet back in good enough shape to go fencing tonight. Admittedly, with the Northern Line doing a fair impression of a Norwegian Blue today, I couldn't have gone to Poly anyway but there was still Saxon and Jo was going there as she can't make it to Poly in time on a Thursday.
Sigh.
Ah well. After much prodding by Lucy and Dennis, I finally got round to going onto
Ragnar Anchorage and
Galactica Station, a most excellent BSG forum/site. Have frittered away way too much of the day on there, geeking out and finding things like line drawings of Colonial rank insignia. Heh. They've even decided to host a copy of my Galactica One report!
Watched episode 4x06 of China Beach (Juice) last night. It was a classic example of what made the fourth season so wonderful in a very sad sort of way. It's 1972 and McMurphy and Dr Richard bump into each other in Florida but the relationship they had in Vietnam is gone - neither is quite the same anymore, especially McMurphy. The scene where she admits to Richard that she loved it over there and wishes it wasn't over but that it is, nonetheless had a particularly strong impact. The only thing that comes close, for me, is the close of season 5 B5 where, again, you get reminded that the events of the series may have been the most momentous of the characters' lives but they are still only a part of them. Oh well, at least it motivated me to have a stab at a China Beach/McMurphy icon...
