Portugal and Eurovision
We won!
I grew up watching Eurovision and almost memorizing a lot of our entry songs and even some of the others.
I can still sing the chorus for some of them.
But with the way Portugal always got left behind, even when the song was a good one, I started to lose interest. Especially when a lot of the countries started to sing in English. For me, the charm of Eurovision was always the possibility to hear music in other languages. Even Portugal tried the English thing, altough they soon returned to full on Portuguese for which I was glad.
Now, I'll admit that a lot of these songs are rather mehh, but there are a few gems.
And, surprise surprise, we finally won. With a song in Portuguese and with a rather Portuguese sound too. Nice.
It's a song that may take a second or third hearing but then the melody just holds you like a lullaby.
By the way, Australia? What were they doing there this year?
The Eurovision can be a riot. Did they know what they were getting into? One must come prepared:
