Best in Show: October 07 - October 08

So. I've been shooting with serious intent for pretty much exactly a year now. In this time I've upgraded my gear bodies and lenses, read a few books, bookmarked scores of websites and taken a class that I loved - I'll surely be taking more in due course, I've got so much more to learn. Nothing educates like experience, and so I try to shoot at least once a week or more and am seldom without a camera on me. I've done shoots on location, at events, in the studio, out with friends or my lonesome, and on every trip I've taken. Yeah, some stuff is still quite rough, though actually, a few of my favorite images taken from this year have been with the dinky 2MP camera on my phone. Content and composition can sometimes allow for even a lot of noise - in fact, it can actually add nicely to the overall message. Your mileage may vary.

Collected here in a highly randomized order is stuff I feel could be actually worth looking at. You may spot yourself in one or two of these photographs. If you watch the whole thing without skipping ahead it should take you around twenty minutes to view at the medium speed, but you can adjust the rate to your preference. Might want to cue up some even-metered music to accompany the slideshow.
Either way, I'd suggest that you visit to the bathroom before you begin, hah.

I'd also recommend that you play this at home, unless your workplace is particularly permissive; some of the images are beautiful, some are quite ugly, but at least a third or more of these images are semi-erotic work, though most are fairly tasteful - perhaps even artful, that was ostensibly the intention anyway. Apologies if the natural human body offends your eye, inasmuch as it inspires my own. Notably, I considered almost all of my models as friends before the shutter clicked, and they all have my deepest thanks for trusting me to be as respectful as possible with these images, both in execution as well as distribution. That said, I really need to start getting release forms signed from here onward.

Hey, check out this stuff while it's all up...soon I'll be shaving this set down by around 66%, give or take - whatever seems to be the fillet. I'll be using those pieces to build a more professional web portfolio than Flickr can be at this point. This will be a crucial part of making a sincere go at marketing myself out for commissioned work, staff position, gallery show, etc.

Photography may never make me rich, but I truly enjoy every step of the process. Hence, in the spirit of 'do what you love and the money will come'...please enjoy.
