"Minervas Eule" means Minerva's owl in german. Since I have read the greek mythology for the first time when I was about 12, Athena = Minerva has been my favourite goddess (to be the goddess of wisdom seemed much better to me than to be the one of love), and the owl is her symbol and companion (in german we also say "the owl of wisedom").
When my parents bought a sailboat back in those days and asked for an idea to name it, I suggested "Minerva" - so our dear companion of nine summer-vacations in the Aegais went by the name of "Minerva", much to the delight of our local greek friends.
You can probably imagine how delighted I was, when, reading the first HP back in 1998, I discovered that the first name of my favourite character since page 10 ? was indeed Minerva! I gave a big shout and told the whole family at once (I still remember that *LOL*). I managed to avoid doing the same later, when, in the movie-theater with my youngest, I discovered that she was being played by Maggie, who I already adored...
