Oh, that was wonderfully beautiful - I like the buildup of the relationship, staring disaster in the face. It all seems so very them - rough edges and all. And the mention of New Orleans almost made me cry, because I was in Baton Rouge for Katrina and I couldn't bear to go up to NO when I was home for Christmas.

thank you so much; when i started building this story, i wanted to use the lines from "the city of new orleans", and that section just flowed from there. i'm so glad it worked for you. :)

Loved this, I know John is a hard character to pin down but his characterization is excellent here:)

Oh, I love you. I love John not thinking because if he thinks, especially about Rodney, he'll hesitate. I love the common language of Hitchhiker's. I love the "i woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt" section the most, because of the way Rodney's reasoning slows every moment down. And then Rodney's "I am finished waiting for you to get a clue, you moronic fly boy." because it's just the perfect moment of decision. I love your structure, but that's nothing new, because you always find the perfect moments to draw out the story you're telling.

You make me love this fandom so much more than I already do.

aw, kitten, thank you! i'm so glad it works for you, the structure especially, because i fretted over whether or not i was playing out a cliche too much with the johnny cash. if it works for you, though, then i know i got it right. *heart*
