in today's news, keira is still a hottass.

In other news, little birdies tell me that it's almejor's birthday today. Happy birthday, darling! I'd have had boypr0n ready for you if I'd known ahead of time; as it is, you'll just have to wait. *grin* I hope your day is fantastic and you get home from work to find naked hobbits on your doorstop. *smooch*

In other other news, my boss has decided to play motivational books - ON CD - in the office instead of the radio for the next two weeks. Someone shoot me in the head now.

And finally, because several people have independently asked me for Sports Night fic recs in the last couple of weeks, I thought I'd put together a comprehensive list of my favorite stories in the fandom. Feel free to add any in the comments if you think I've missed some; keep in mind that this is just a list of MY favorites. And let me know if you enjoy these, okay? Good.

(If anyone has LJ usernames for the few people whose names I don't have, let me know that, too, okay? Good.)

+ The First Move, by smallbeer. Sports Night. Dan/Casey, Dan/OFC. An interesting look into Casey's psyche and Danny's dating life - well written, some clever light-handed nods to canon, and Rodgers and Hart references.

+ Tin Men, by runpunkrun. Sports Night. Dan/Casey. PG-13. Today Dan was in a suit coat, dress shirt, tie, shorts, and cheap flip flops. He was beach boy and businessman, all in one ridiculous package, and it shouldn't have worked, but Dan somehow pulled it off. Because he was goofy, pantsless, and irresistible, Casey had him pinned up against one of the few walls on the 49th floor that wasn't transparent.

+ Every Great Success Story by S.N. Castle. Dan/Casey, r. Dan's working through some issues, everyone talks about underdogs (and Snickers bars and Geraldine Ferraro), and Casey is insecure and worried. This Casey is very different from the Casey we see on the show, and I like him. Very vulnerable and scared, and utterly appealing. And I love crazy!Dan, which is what this is. Definitely worth a read, if only for the Casey and Jeremy conversation near the end, which is riotous and heartbreaking at the same time.

+ Go Thy Way, Daniel by Marguerite. Vague Dan/Casey, some Casey/Dana. Mostly just Dan. Dan goes crazy, and Casey watches, worries and tries to help. Dark, with possible mental illness/self-abuse triggers. Well worth if you can make it through.

+ Naissance by allcanadiangirl. Dan/Casey, pg-13. Casey falls in love with more than New York.

+ A Sandwich Is A Transitory Thing, by debchan. Dan/Casey, r. Jeremy discovers Buddhism, Casey thinks about sandwiches, and there's happy ending angst.

+ Five Things That Never Happened (To Dan Rydell), by shrift. R. A heartbreaking series of "what ifs" in Danny's life. The first fic that I read in the Sports Night fandom. I hate that Danny is frequently such a pathetic, lonely character in SN fic a lot of the time, but in this one, it works. There's a melancholy around Danny's life in this story that just kills me. And a happy ending. This isn't one of my favorite SN fics, this is one of my favorite fics, period.

+ Where Have You Gone, Tom Glavine?, by sabine101. Dan/Casey, R. Casey's gone and Dan can't write. Post-series. Don't read this without a box of kleenex nearby. It's long, it reads like Sorkin wrote it, and it's an absolute weeper.

+ Possibility of a World, by callmesandy. Dan/Casey, Dan/OFC, Casey/OMG. Another weeper. Wonderful ending, and one very intriguing and lovely original character. One of my favorite Dans ever.

+ Djibouti, by linabean and darthfox. NC-17. Dan/Casey. Dan turns 30. But a better summary is that it's labeled in my bookmarks as "debauched gay sex with Casey phase". Fluff, but happy cheerful funny fluff.

+ Take This Sabbath Day, by meadowlion. Dan/Casey. PG. It's a standard Sports Night plot; one of the boys is secretly in love with the other and everyone has to get used to it and maybe fall in love back along the way, but it's funny and sweet, and the structure is terribly inclined to this sort of story.

+ Untitled, by celli. Dan/Casey. Hard R. Here. Let's explain this one this way: in my memories, it's called "Dan, Casey, beer and sex". Hot, sweaty sex. And only the barest hint of a plot. Despite that, Celli manages to make the boys sound like Sorkin's written them, all with the added bonus of sex. *thumbs up*

+ Two-Player Game, by thisisbone. Dan/Casey/Stacey Kerr, NC-17. Stacey is, in fact, a canon character (see also: "Dear Louise", S1, aka "the Boogie Shoes episode"), and this is, in fact, really fucking hot threesome porn. Everyone wins!

+ A Better Writer For It, by Anna-Marie Jennings. Dan/Casey. R. Gorgeous story that explores the weird, intense, canon-y relationship between Casey and Dan, wherein they need each other and refuse to admit they need each other until it's too late. Thankfully, this one doesn't end up too late. Fantastic ending, and one of my favorite fanon Danas ever.

+ To Casey, On His Thirty-Fifth Birthday, by mosca. Dan/Casey. PG. I'm a sucker for a good letter, and this is a doozy. Post-show.

+ 6 Stories About 5 Blowjobs, by minervacat. Dan/Casey, Casey/others. R. Okay, so I'm really weird about pimping my own fic in the links digests - that is to say, I don't - but I really like this one, and hey, I think it's pretty good. If you're reading SN fic, you should read mine, too. There's a lot of oral sex in it, at least. And a happy ending.
