The first test drive of my beautiful new Nikon D60 (an early Christmas gift from the parental units) probably shouldn't have been a show at the Pour House on double tall Long Island night after having spent the entirety of the Duke/Carolina football game in the afternoon drinking Jack Daniels, but it was, and all these photos tell me is that I still have a lot to learn about using a camera, which is something I already knew. (I have a solid photographic eye; I am just crap at using a camera, I sort of flail around and hope that the camera is smarter than me. I need to take a photography class to learn to use my camera, not to learn to take photos.)
The set is
here but there aren't many in it that aren't here; of the 300 or so that I took, only a handful were worth posting.
It was a lovely long weekend, first with my family for Thanksgiving and then with friends as good as family for the remainder, and now it's raining and I'm making chicken and dumplings and shep.'s killing monsters and in a minute I'm going to lie on the couch with
quicknow's brother's copy of No Country For Old Men and a whole lot of Portastatic on my headphones. I hope all of your weekends, be they long or regular, were just as lovely.
And in other news, after yesterday, the Carolina football team finished the regular season 8-4. Here are some traditionally good football teams we are better than this year: Notre Dame; Tennessee; LSU; Auburn. TJ Yates is still a doucheface but I won't disembowel him until after our bowl game, I suppose.
