[downloading more music is an appropriate response to boredom, right?]

Jan 31, 2008 10:37

I did this meme because otherwise my choices for today were: be bored at home while waiting for contractors from Philly to call me back, or be bored in my boss's office while waiting for contractors from Philly to call me back and while a tiny adorable dude from London mumbles to himself as he attempts to import all our taxonomy data into our brand-new shiny management software.

I was not bored for exactly 11 minutes, and now I am bored again.

What was the first song you ever heard by 6?
"Me & Jiggs", downloaded from some music blog the year Hello, Starling came out.

What is your favourite album by 2?
Alive & Wired, which is cheating, because it is a live album, but it has all the songs I love from all the other albums. After that, Satellite Rides.

What is your favourite lyric that 1 has sung?
... I have to pick? Okay, fine: others may know where you're been/but honey, i know where you're from. But seriously: it's not without reason that I have 300+ Mason tracks in iTunes; I love his damn lyrics a lot.

How many times have you seen 11 live?
Twice, but the last time was summer of '99, so it's been a while.

What is your favorite song by 7?
"Thank You For the Venom", I think. I refuse to choose between the entirety of The Black Parade! This question is unfair!

What is a good memory you have involving 20?
I've written a couple of awesome stories with Rilo Kiley lyrics as titles? I don't know, I'm not actually a huge fan, I've just had some obsessive periods with certain songs.

Is there a song by 3 that makes you sad?
"Ft. Hood", off Doughty's upcoming album, makes me cry. It's titled after the Army base that's lost the most men in the war.

What is your favorite lyric that 14 has sung?
Counting Crows, from "Murder of One": curiosity, kitten, doesn't have to mean you're on your own

What is your favorite song by 19?
The Arrogant Worms: "Canada Is Really Big". WITHOUT A DOUBT.

How did you first get into 22?
Cobra Starship: bandom ate my face off. The end.

What was the first song you heard by 21?
The Proclaimers: well, obvs, "500 Miles", but the first song of theirs I fell in love with was "Joyful Kilmarnock Blues".

What is your favorite song by 4?
Fall Out Boy: "Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner", the acoustic-y version from the My Heart ... EP.

What is a good memory you have involving 13?
Well, this one time, we celebrated Jon Walker's birthday with Jack Daniels and brownies.

Is there a song by 23 that makes you sad?
Dude, half Tori Amos's catalog makes me sad.

What is your favorite album of 15?
Johnny Cash: Live at Folsom Prison.

What is your favorite lyric that 9 has sung?
Bear McCreary's arrangement of "All Along The Watchtower" doesn't count, and the rest is the score to Battlestar Galactica and is thus sans words.

How many times have you seen 5 live?
Just once, but hopefully with the new Mountain Goats album in February, that'll change. It should, after all! John Darnielle lives 10 miles from me! Why haven't I seen these dudes more?

What is your favorite album by 12?
Okkervil River: Don't Fall In Love With Everyone You See, which they were touring on when they supported the Decemberists on the Picaresque tour.

What is a good memory you have involving 25?
The second or third time shep. came up to hang out with me, she made somebody upload Moon & Antarctica for me because she thought I needed it. I did!

What was the first song you heard by 18?
BJ usually opens the American Aquarium shows with "Telling A Lie", so I would guess that one.

What is your favorite song by 17?
Thea Gilmore: hands down without a doubt "You Tell Me".

What is your favorite album by 24?
Lyle Lovett: I Love Everybody. It has the song about penguins on it! And the title track! And "Good-Bye To Carolina"!

How many of your top 25 have you seen live?
16: Mason Jennings, Old 97s, Doughty, Fall Out Boy, The Mountain Goats, Josh Ritter, The Decemberists, Kasey Chambers, Ani DiFranco, Okkervil River, Counting Crows, Thea Gilmore, American Aquarium, the Arrogant Worms, the Proclaimers, and Tori Amos. But we have tickets to see Cobra and Panic! in the next couple of months, and there's a Weakerthans show at the Cradle in April that I'm going to try and make, and Modest Mouse is touring with R.E.M. this summer. Which would bring me to a whopping 20 of 25, and Bear McCreary is a score composer and Johnny Cash is dead, which would just leave My Chem, Rilo Kiley and Lyle Lovett. And I've seen Mason 20 times, which has to count for something. Anyway, I see a lot of live music, that's what this tells us.

Now I am going to eat some peanut butter.
