good things afoot
I feel like I should blog more, because these are important times in my life and it would be nice to look back on them with some kind of record... but I never have time really, and when I do have time, I'm not in the mood to sit in front of the computer and blog. But I am kind of in the mood right now, so I figured I would write a little bit, before I go to bed tonight (early, because I have to make it to the gym tomorrow morning to run before heading to school to help out Brittany with her whopping 3 inpatients). I feel sort of bad, because I just have one (Mike, my neuter), and he goes home tomorrow, whereas Brittany has one going home tomorrow, one Saturday and one maybe Saturday or Sunday, depending on how he heals (it's a disk). Kyle has his Greyhound that goes home tomorrow. We have 3 surgery appts tomorrow (a neuter, probably a TECA and a declaw).... I want the declaw badly, and I already had a neuter so someone else should get that one. The TECA /would/ be interesting to see though..... we'll see.
Oh yes. All this surgery conversation. This week started my first week of Small Animal Surgery (a 4-week rotation). My first 2 weeks are soft tissue, and the 2nd 2 weeks are ortho (yuck). Soft tissue is awesome though, I am actually really enjoying myself. I hope I will enjoy Ortho but I feel like I probably won't, haha.
Other things.... I got an e-mail from VMCLI! The email basically said they were really impressed with me and feel I would be a good fit in their program. The vet wrote that she hopes to work with me in the future.... Now if that isn't an unofficial offer for the internship position, I don't know what is, haha. I'm really excited though, because when I went there I really liked the place and the people, and I just had an overall good feeling about it. And originally, I wasn't even sure I had a shot, because I never even saw the place or spoke to anyone... after my application went out, they contacted me for an interview. I was definitely surprised, but I went and ended up really liking it. Well whaddya know. :) I will hear the official word on "Match Day" on March 2nd. Craziness.... I can't believe I actually pretty much have a place to go after graduation. I was really worried I wasn't going to get a place, and now I am pretty sure I have one. Amazing!
Another good thing: Got the proofs for my wedding invitations today.... just the layout of the wording. It looks great. I can't wait to see the finished product on the actual invitation. Which leads me to something else good that is coming up.....
Sean AND I will be coming home for the weekend in February. Thank goodness Nicole can watch the kids then. Originally, Sean was just going to fly home to get himself and his groomsmen fitted for tuxes, but somehow it ended up with me coming along too. It's been over a year since he and I were on Long Island at the same time, and we're waaaay past due. To celebrate, we're throwing an 80's-themed pot luck party... probably the last party we're going to be throwing until after the wedding. Crazy how quickly time is moving!
Things have been going so well lately, almost /too/ well. I'm almost wondering what's going to come that's going to ruin it all, haha. That's terrible, I know.
Well it's about bedtime so I think I'll retire.... maybe another day I'll get a blog in... sometime soon.
