Today was the first day of Ophtho, which was interesting. But it was a bad day, because I found out that Casey Webb died on Friday (a cat with IMHA whose case I had been following since Oncology a month ago). Even worse than that, Dr. Hayes had to put Bailey to sleep today and supposedly was a wreck, along with the rest of the people at the hospital who had to witness it. I cried when I heard the news. Bailey was such a sweet, lovable and quirky dog. She walked backwards and laid like a little torpedo on the ground and was Dr. Hayes' shadow for 15 years, even since she rescued her as a parvo puppy at North Shore with a PCV of 2.
I heard she headed straight over to the crematory with Bailey this afternoon (she has an issue with keeping bodies frozen) with her mom. And since Dr. Lombardi is on vacation this week, she has to work tomorrow.
How awful.
