Slinky hijinx

I am proud to say that Slinkyness is officially the hit of the hospital. Everyone loved him, and he was incredibly good for Dr. Hayes, not even flinching when she stuck him with a rabies shot (so brave). All he did was shake a little, no aggression or anything. Gina was carrying him around inside her zipper hoodie. Katie couldn't put him down. Mike and Dawn proclaimed him to be "absolutely precious". Jen thought he was cuter than her own cat, heee. :)

Slinky was ok for the car ride, crying in his carrier. But last night I took a car ride with my dad to his office, and Slinky came too. He was crying so my dad said I should take him out of the carrier. After he got settled on my lap, he promptly fell asleep. I think it's the rattling of the carrier that scares him. However I can't very well hold him while I'm driving, so he's going to have to get used to sitting in there on car trips.

This past night he only woke me up at 630 (around his usually wake-up-and-play time), which is good cos the first night he woke me up two other times, as well as at 7 am. Now he's sitting on my bed, curled up on my comforter and very content. Actually i think he's sleeping.

However, he discovered how to get behind my dresser and it's next to impossible to get him out. He also stepped on my power strip and turned everything that was plugged in off.

He's a voracious eater, finishing his dry food this morning and nosing around for more. However I'm going to wait until dinner time to give him the rest. Don't want to get the kitty fat, heh. Dr. Hayes says he has a long tail that he's got to grow into and he's already pretty big for his age (5 lbs 11 oz) so she thinks he's definitely going to be a good sized-adult.

Unfortunately, all we have in terms of canned food is seafood flavors, and since the doctor confirmed what Susan said about seafood and UTI's, I need to go out and get another case of food with a different type of protein.

Yesterday Gina gave him a catnip mousie, and he tosses it in the air and chases it around. I've had to retrieve it from underneath furniture several times today, using a wire coathanger.

The verdict: He's adorable. I like it when he's on the bed and he just stares at me with his yellow eyes, and kneads the bed at the same time. It's like he's marching in place.

He gets a "no" and a tap on the nose if he tries to play bite. And tape is all over the top of the furniture so he doesn't jump up.

At the same time, I'm also trying to pay equal attention to Raven. We played with her toys yesterday and today, and I've been giving her little things I'm eating (including her beloved strawberries). Gotta make sure she knows she's still my Numero Uno.

But overall Slinky's quite the perfect kitty. Just mega mischievious. :) I think I'm going to lay down with him now, being that my mother is laying down with Raven.
