Whoever said that office work can't be hazardous to your health has probably never been buried underneath a file cabinet!
I'm changing our files from one filing system to another -so when my co-worker I. took a file out of the bottom drawer, leaving it open, I totally didn't use my brains and instead simply pulled out the top drawer. Well, imagine my surprise when the whole thing started falling over, almost crushing me underneath it!!! Gave me quite a scare, especially since I was caught underneath a tall, fallen bedroom cupboard as a child, bumping my head and squashing my (right? - left?)pinkie in the process. Ouch.
My other co-worker B. got quite a scare as well b/c a few years ago the same happened to her and she was stuck with her foot and couldn't get out. Unfortunately it was a Friday afternoon with no-one else around in the late afternoon and she had to struggle for almost an hour to free her foot. Damn scary I dare say.
Anyway, a little over four weeks ago it was decided that the apprentices of our firm are to organize our annual summer party with an unknown but limited budget.
Last Tuesday we had the theme, entertainment, food stuff almost completely set up and were able to present it to two of our management representatives. All was good. They liked the theme, liked the entertainment and in general the food as well. Unfortunately, they didn't like the cost of the whole event which came down to 15.000 €. It's a lot, I do admit that, BUT we are a fairly large company, and the employees are bringing their families, meaning there will be quite a lot of kids, too. So now we are desperately trying to cut the cost by several hundred Euros. Too bad they changed the date, too, b/c now we have to get most of our offers all over again because the renting agencies are booked on that day! *headdesk*
Oh, and did I mention that out of 15 apprentices, three, including me, have been hooked with most of the work? No? Well, now you know.
It's fun but it's also stressful, a lot of work, sometime frustrating and bears a lot of responsibility.
Well, I really hope it'll all work out!
