Three weeks to go and I'm unemployed. Well, hopefully I'll be employed somewhere for the winter, at least through the holiday season.
This past week was full of 3rd grade and 7th grade goodness. The third graders studied rocks for a day, and the 7th graders went rock climbing, did a stream study, and a sustainable colonies game that was quite fun. And then Erin came down for the weekend. Yesterday I was on to lead a small youth group in some activities, but the rain changed the plan to caving. We had a wonderful time in Glade Cave. When we got out, the rain had stopped and the sun was making its way eastward. The air was as clear as can be with some of the prettiest views of the mountains I'd ever seen down here. I wish I had my camera.
I was hoping today would be just as clear, but over night, the haze filtered back in. It was still nice up in the park. We were going to do the 4-mile Rose River Loop that I did a few weeks ago, but we ended up starting late because I forgot to charge the camera battery last night. So we hit up a few overlooks and made it down to Dark Hollow Falls when it became clear that our remaining light and the cold temperatures were not going to permit us to continue. I have a few preview images from some JPEGs shot alongside the RAW files. But I cannot edit or view RAW files at the computer here, so I'll have to do that at home next weekend.
The park was way too crowded for my tastes. There was a line of cars at the entrance station just to get in. Nearly every overlook and major trailhead parking was full of cars. And there were so many people at the waterfall that I was lucky to get a few shots without them in.
