This is actually a Muggle concept that is applied to those who are faced with grave news of reality. This includes death, a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one, etc. Overall, however, it may also be used for something that we know to be true, but find difficult to accept.

1) Denial (ex: "I do not have a crush on him!")
2) Anger (ex: "I hate you, I thought you're my friends!")
3) Bargaining (ex: "Okay, I'll stop bothering him if you'll just shut up about what you heard last night!")
4) Grieving (ex: "This is so wrong, I hate my life, I can't do this.")
5) Acceptance (ex: "Oh fine. Maybe a little bit, then.")

Harry, this is not, in any way, a post against you. I just thought you might like to know so that your reactions against these...claims will not put you in deeper trouble. Or more rumors.

This is just for information's sake, of course.
