Okay... so I enrolled Elora in a preschool. They have four year old classes, and then they have a superspeshul "Kindergarten Prep" class, for which one must pass an assessment. Elora went in today for her assessment and the lady very compassionately informed me after it was over that Elora had done very well on some things but that she wasn't ( Read more... )

You know, in Waldorf schools, they don't even start teaching writing until 1st grade.

All the "preschools" around here are pretty much just daycare. Trying to decide what to do with my munchkins when C's UI runs out and he gets a job.

Now in some civilized countries, they start teaching children to read and write as soon as they are ready, which in a lot of cases is... at... like... 3. I know that America is trying to drift that way.
