AIGH!!!!! WTF MINEFIELD!!!! I hit something, and lost my long post! Ah, well, that's par for the course, since
the first part of the lost post had to do with my computer. Almost 2 weeks ago now, my sister accidentally kicked over my computer (she doesn't own one, so she uses mine - she is using her boyfriend's now as well, since the below happened). Don't ask me how, I was at work. Somehow, one of the connections between the power supply and the motherboard got loose. When she rebooted the computer, the hard drive fried. Of course, I had no money that day, since I wasn't getting paid until the end of the week. As soon as I could, I bought the cheapest SATA drive I could find that could fit all of my data ($70 with tax at the computer store down the street, for a $250 GB drive). I'm pretty much finally back up and running, as it took a long time to attempt to get back what data I could with file recovery software. I actually seemed to get most of it back - I'm missing very little of my own music collection, based on my Winamp playlist (and about half of that I can just rip back from CDs I had burned it to), and my fansubs, scanlations, and other assorted data are intact enough that I can't easily tell what's missing. I even seemed to get back most of my sister's data. I'm so kind, especially since I had to be convinced that killing her would be a Bad Idea. (g) Reinstalling software wasn't too painful, except for Office 2000 and Nero updates - it took all night to get Nero to install properly, and I just got Office updates on correctly tonight. Oy. I just have to reinstall my printer software, and make sure RealPlayer works, and it's all good. Of course, this would happen just as I'm about to watch the LAST episode of ROOKIES (a HS baseball J-drama featuring Satoh Takeru and Shirota Yuu), barring the special (the hardsub's not out for that yet) and the movie (which comes out in the spring). I've been craving pretty juvenile delinquents. (g)
But, wait, the interesting times aren't over yet. I had gotten an email letting me know to expect important mail, which arrived today. The mail was the final papers in my divorce. Yes, I was married - I got married when I was 19 (no, no kids), but we've been separated for years (let's put it this way - he's still up in Buffalo). As of November 6, I'm now single again. The only reason we hadn't gotten divorced sooner was the cost - in either NY or SC, it's about $500 to do all of the work and filing yourself, and that's the cheapest route. He managed to get the money together, and said he would pay for all of it. He ended up doing the work as well, as per a mutual agreement when we looked at which state's laws would be quicker and easier to work with. It was all very amicable - time, distance, and growing up are good things, plus neither of us wanted to screw over the other (heck, I don't have anything anyway, and even if he does, I don't want it - it's just not right), so we were able to quickly hash out how it was going to be filed. In any case, it's finally over, and that's a relief (especially since it did go well).
Plus, CCPL's collection is now more interesting, as we're getting more non-Miyazaki anime. What, that's important to me! (g) We got in Samurai 7 (although the existance of the stage version is still blowing my mind, since it has Takahashi Hiroki (aka the seiyuu for Eiji in TeniPuri, Jounouchi in YGO! DM, and Harima in School Rumble, which I'm now watching because it's funny as heck and has him and Konishi Hiroki/Ryosei aka Konitan aka Shinji in Tenimyu aka Saejima Kouga/GARO in GARO, which is a FREAKING AMAZING SHOW THAT MAKES ME FLAIL IN ALL CAPS) and, playing Kikuchiyo, the one and only Razor Ramon HG. Yes, Hard Gay is doing a serious show. WTF.), Season 3 only of Inuyasha (don't ask me why only season 3), more Kon Satoshi stuff, and the first 6 discs of the infamous Viz version of TeniPuri. Yes, I have them checked out. No, I'm not watching the dub, except to see what they called moves. Yes, I cringe when I catch errors in the subs (it's not a Kick Serve if Ryoma's doing it!). Yes, I fast forward over Viz's credit sequences, and wonder why they only have the original openings/endings as extras, especially since Viz can do it correctly. Yes, I'm back fully in love with TeniPuri, which is good, because I had downloaded CinePuri and a bunch of Tenimyus before the Great Crash. Thankfully, they had all survived, which must be a sign that I can't avoid watching them anymore. Must resist live action TeniPuri addiction...
Oh, and my foot is now also a barometer - besides being prone to migraines now when a bad front comes along, the foot I banged up a month ago when doing bookdrop also hurts. It's still not 100% anyway, sigh, but it's mostly back to normal.
