"You know, that's still really creepy," said the pot to the kettle as she walked up, tugging on a pair of black gloves. She grinned at the back of his head, though. It wasn't often someone agreed to train with her and she was tired of the automated voice that accompanied her every overseen training in the mornings. Tenten flexed her fingers in preparation - a cramp while pulling something nasty fun out of thin air would be a buzzkill.

Tenten reminded herself not to aim for the head or heart, even if they were the easiest to hit. Besides, there was plenty of Kiba to go around, she'd have to focus on something smaller. Like... like his fingers, or toes. He was a big one, even bigger than the boys from Rain when they were dumb kind enough to join her. "I promised no guns, so I'll be using electric and paralytic darts and things of that nature. Is that okay with you?" Tenten's smile widened by a fraction, and she practically poured cheerful, eager energy.

Kiba snorted dismissively. "Fine. How are we keeping score? Time limit? Or will you just keep after me until I pass out?" The last wasn't said flippantly, either. Tenten had an aura about her, a tension through her shoulders that spoke of repressed excitement. Excitement about tossing pointy stuff at him?

Well, that wasn't really all that surprising, all things considered...

"All I need is forty-five seconds to get into position and we're green to go," he informed her neutrally, blinking his eyes a couple of times to get himself used to the colour-lending contacts he'd carefully put in not ten minutes earlier. Normally, if it was just him and Akamaru running this course against the automated assailant system, he wouldn't bother. But against Tenten he probably needed all the advantage he could get.

"Mmm, I work best under pressure, so a time limit, please," there were things Asuma just pounded into his students back in Rain. Time limits seemed to have been his special gift to his unbegotten offspring. "But, if you want to call time when you're unable to move, I promise to be most..." she thought of the proper English. "Accommodating. Will Akamaru be joining us? Or is it just you and me?"

Tenten really didn't want to toss things at the big dog, and didn't want to entertain the thought of being overpowered. Thank goodness she was long-range and not Naruto. Akamaru could probably swallow her whole without blinking.

"Just us," he confirmed. Dropping forward onto his hands, Kiba stretched his legs out carefully - the last thing he needed at the moment was a strained tendon or hamstring. "Okay. You set a time for you, and we'll see what happens first - that coming around or me being completely neutralised." Truthfully, it was more likely that she'd get him down for the count, unless she set herself a stupidly optimistic limit. He wasn't even going to attempt to grapple with her - for him, this exercise was just a test of his own speed, agility and endurance.

With a low rumble at Akamaru - Stay, observe - he gave Tenten a nod to signal he was ready. "Count forty-five and then come after me," he directed and started off. One advantage of stupidly long legs was that even when you seemed to be strolling you were covering a lot of ground, and on all fours like he was now Kiba moved twice as fast. Before she got to ten he'd disappeared into the maze of industrial-styled junk and half-buildings that was Assault Course Three ( ... )

"Fourty-four... fourty-five." Ready or not, Russkie, here I come! Tenten smiled at Akamaru and started into the maze. Kiba was a fast son of a bitch, but that didn't mean he'd be faster than a bullet. She kicked off a wall, and bounced herself between two structures, going up instead of out. Swinging off a pole and landing atop of one of the higher structures, the sniper started pulling her items from the air. A handful of thin, light darts, red-tipped for electric and blue-tipped for paralytics, were spread out beside her. The long gun she used for them came next, and she adjusted the length. It wouldn't be fair if she just stayed in one place, but it wouldn't be bad if she had a few nests to run to as she chased him around ( ... )
