Canon Resource Link: i am insanely hung up on this girl

History: Karin was born in a small, nondescript village on the outskirts of Balamb. Her childhood was a uneventful one - or at least, what she can remember of it. When she was still young - maybe six or seven - her entire village was stormed and pillaged by a group of men, lead, as she found out a few days later, by a man named Orochimaru. The entire place burned to the ground, but she, out of all of the inhabitants, survived. Why, you ask?

Because when Karin was roughly five, she discovered that she had a rather curious ability- the ability to track things. If someone was coming, she'd know. And that is the only reason why she's still alive. With this came the odd ability to be able to tell if someone was lying.

When she felt the group coming, she warned her parents, and when they told her she was just imagining it, she ran. A day later, when the smoke subsided and the screams had stopped, she was found. From there, she was, in a way, adopted by Orochimaru and his assistant, a bespectacled man named Kabuto. They were both scientists, they said, and found her ability - as she had warily explained why she was alive to the two of them - enthralling. They asked her to come with them, and, with no other option, she did.

There were two other kids besides her. Orochimaru told her that they were orphans like her - family and friends dead, with nowhere else to go. Both of the children - Suigetsu and Juugo, both roughly her age - had abilities as well, though Orochimaru and Kabuto were wary to tell her of them. Eventually, she found out. She wasn't very fond of either of the two boys, finding Suigetsu crass and unreasonable and Juugo too much of a shut in. Either way, Orochimaru and Kabuto trained all of them to fight, and soon, it was discovered that the two older men were ninjas, and intended to pass their skills off to the three children. Juugo and Suigetsu welcomed it, though Juugo with much more hesitation, while Karin simply accepted it and moved on.

Years went by until she was ten, and another boy joined them, this one named Sasuke Uchiha. He was of much more interest to Karin, because of both his ability and his sheer attractiveness. He was already trained in a manner similar to her own training with Suigetsu and Juugo, something Orochimaru praised him for. Karin immediately grew fond of him, though he expressed dislike towards her and the others.

Over the course of the years gone by, Orochimaru and Kabuto began conducting what they called 'miniature experiments' on the four children. These experiments are the reason Karin has her healing ability - though some process, Kabuto rewired her mana to not only be able to track people, but to be able to heal others. They tapped into Suigetsu, Juugo and Sasukes mana as well.

Another year passed and Orochimaru told the four children that they had been accepted to a prestigious academy for children 'just like them' - minus the experimented part, he had assured them. That was what made them special. - called Estrasia Academy, and were to leave for said school in the coming months. All four were less than pleased with the idea. When the time for school came around, the four of them were loaded onto a train and sent off to Estrasia, with instructions to write them of their studies. Karin was twelve, then.

Years passed at the Academy. The four of them had formed a sort of group - and as the years progressed, Karin found her infatuation with Sasuke and his ability grow into genuine affection (and maybe even something more). In her seventh year, she finally got over her infatuation with Sasuke (to his relief) and got herself a volunteer gig in the infirmary. She also graduated in that same year, and began a legitimate apprenticeship in the infirmary so she could stay in the place she considers home.

Personality: Karin is a generally decent person to be around, if not occasionally unpredictable. Her personality towards people can swing two ways - angry, headstrong and commanding or laid-back, confident and sweet. There are few people she acts genuinely kind to - her close friends, mostly. To the rest, she's quite petulant, if not uncaring and apathetic at times.

She is rather obsessive, once she decides to do something she usually goes through with it unless she really has to quit it. This partly extends over to people - if she's attracted to someone, she's attracted to them, and will expect their full attention if she wants it. This near-obsessive nature makes her driven to get what she wants, be it medical prowess or attention.

She gives off a professional air, especially when she's acting as a staff member, but when you get to know her, she's decidedly looser. Because she can be blunt and unforgiving at times, making friends is hard, but she's also very courteous, something that makes up for her occasional coldness. She's also very loyal to her friends, sticking up for them even if they're acting like idiotic jerks. She'd never admit it, but she considers Suigetsu, Juugo and Sasuke her closest friends.

♜ SAMPLES

Third Person Sample:
Karin lifts her gaze from the ground to rest on her three companions in front of her - Juugo on the left, Suigetsu on the right and Sasuke in front of them all - as she moves to catch up. They were traveling (yet again, because staying in one place was apparently taboo to Sasuke, and he always had to walk there, never travel like a normal human), though she wasn't quite sure where. In fact, none of them were, as usual. It's not unusual to her, not anymore.

"Sasuke," she calls out, voice steady even though exhaustion washes over her. "For how much longer will we be walking? I'm getting tired." it comes out as a whine and she furiously suppresses a flinch. Whining is certainly the last thing she wants to do, especially around Sasuke and the others. She's the weak link, and it takes all of her skill and patience to shine amongst the four of them. (patience she's never really had and skills that she herself doubts on occasion.) A groan passes her lips. Even if she missed them, this is still tedious, and bordering unnecessary. Next time, she decided, she will rally for a train ride, because walking everywhere is ridiculous. Why they left the academy is beyond her, and why she continually spends her breaks travelling with them is even farther beyond her - literally. Her red eyes train onto him as she waits for the reply she's sure will take another moment. Typical.

"Another half hour." his voice is expressionless as he addresses her. She snarls, quiet and low in the back of her throat. This is one thing that wears down on her patience and that she utterly hates - Sasukes dismissive attitude. She thanks the gods that her prior infatuation is now merely an urge to prove herself, because at nineteen years old, Karin has discovered that Sasuke Uchiha isn't worth it. He's extremely intelligent, handsome and many other things, but he'll likely never return any romantic feelings from anyone, and certainly not Karin, as she figured out two or so years ago. She brushes her hair out of her face and pushes it to the back of her mind. A half an hour of walking is fine. She can take it and she knows it.

The time goes quickly and soon enough, they have, surprisingly, returned to Crescent. It's a place she should have expected - Sasuke basically lives there, after all - and she kicks herself for not having guessed. The four of them filter into his house and Juugo silently slips into the kitchen to make tea. She smiles demurely and plops down onto the couch. She hasn't been here in ages, and in the back of her mind, she probably missed it a bit, because she settles into the couch with a bit too much nostalgia. She makes a mental note to visit Sasuke in Crescent more, because really, he's got a nice house. It might be the soreness of her legs talking, but either way, she makes a note to visit more often.

First Person Sample:
To the student that decided to leave her bloody bandages all over the infirmary: I suggest you get back here and clean them up. In fact, get back here in general. You were expressly forbidden from leaving the infirmary, something that means don't leave or I will come after you.

Actually, if you don't get back here, I will come find you, because yes, I know exactly where you are, and no, it probably won't be pretty.

For the record, the rec center is a very bad place to hide, and I'm going to strangle you with your bloody bandages once I find my gloves. You have roughly five minutes.
