oo, this was random. but i guess i finally had a chance to rant about my numerous beefs with organized religion in a controlled setting....hm

my theory is this: you DON'T HAVE TO GO TO CHURCH to be part of a specific religion, regardless of what it is. church, synagogue, temple...all of these are just gathering places for people of the same religion. if you want to go to strengthen your ties with people of the same faith, that's fine. but if you go solely to be preached to, you're not going for the right reason. your personal beliefs should be interpreted by yourself. it's good to have guidance, yes, but to have someone dictate what you should and should not believe is a bunch of bullshit. it's not faith if you feel like you HAVE to behave a certain way because Pastor Bill the Bigot says so. you should feel that god (or whoever) is compelling you to do whatever deed, not feel guilty because of someone else's interpretation of the (insert random holy book here).

in other semi-related news--i have a sticker, on my cd player, that i got at pizza hut that has the KFC logo, but with jesus above it, and beneath it reads 'KIDS FOR CHRIST'. under that, i wrote 'Yes, Jesus loves fried chicken! And Jew-babies!'. i smite thee.
