B2/C2

B2

My rhetoric skills have improved even more since my writing of B1/C1. My grammatical structure has improves greatly, and I have become capable of using brighter, more vivid words in my writing.

MLA has really aided me in using correct citations of sources for my research. I have also been able to weed out extra information in my papers, whereas I was a little confused as to what my subjects did and did not need. My papers are more clear and concise now as well.

Use of technology for this class has not changed much for me. However, I tend to do 90% of my research on the computer now. Doing so is just easier, faster and more convenient for me than traveling to a library and citing from several tedious book sources.

Collaboration is still a rough spot for me. I am able to decipher between extra information and resourceful information, which is a plus. In the future I need to stop writing chunks of my paper and just write it all together at once so it can flow better, but this has proven to be easier said than done for me.

Critical thinking has become easier and a little less tedious for me. Writing all of these papers and observations has made my critical thinking process flow a little better than it used to. However, procrastination is still a dastardly little habit I still need to work on-obviously, as I am writing this review at 2:08 A.M. and have to be up in 4 and a half hours for a double shift at work tomorrow.

I am more confident in my writing now than I was initially (which is a lot coming from me, since I have one of the lowest self-esteems known to man). I do not second guess myself as often anymore, either. I am always open to criticism; I think it can only help me in my achievements. However, asking for this extra criticism is still something that does not come easily for me.

My previous skills, strategies, knowledge, and experiences did not help me as much as I initially thought they would. The new ones I learned were the most help. For example, leaving out conjunctions and excluding from ending sentences with prepositions has become almost a subconscious act for me, which is very helpful in the long run of writing.  These are skills and strategies that will stay knowledgeable to me, and my experience of errors will continue to help my writing grow.

I tend to reflect when I feel I have the time to do so. Unfortunately, this is not very often, since I work full time as well as go to school full time. Next semester, I will ask for more time off, as I think my grades suffered for it this semester. I still have much growing to do in the department of reflective ness, but this class aided in a great deal of it, especially when it came to researching and writing my paper.

C2

If I had to give myself a grade, I suppose it would be an A-. I did complete all of the assignments this time around. I may have not turned them in on their exact due dates, but I did post them all before the end of the semester, which was initially my goal.

Sarah is still awesome. She still made the class enjoyable and prevented me from sleep. I enjoyed our MOO chats, even though the MOO seemed to be down quite a bit. Teaching us about lectures that would eventually aid us in our third essay was something that was very useful to me. I would not have known how to start my paper had she not had a lecture over Freud and included his death instinct as a part of it. Also, the video clips of CIV 4 and Jesus Camp were quite interesting, to say the least. Humor was definitely a great tool for this sort of class; it kept things interesting. Her favorite movie may even turn out to be a new favorite of mine. I had heard of the band “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”, but I had no idea there was a movie about Hedwig and the band.

The only thing I can honestly say that I did not like about the class was the articles we had to read and write observations on, and the AA readings. I do not think either one was really useful in what we were doing in class as a whole. The lectures and what I took away from class were what really mattered in my writing, knowledge, and experience.
