SCHÖNES ÖSTERN!
I am so excited for Easter! I got lots of Easter cards today, including an adorable picture of baby Courtney in a white Easter basket. So cute. The third floor is planning an awesome Easter dinner. Mel is making honey ham, green bean casserole, and cheesy potatoes! I am going to attempt to make a yellow cake with chocolate icing, strawberries, and kiwis. I hope it turns out yummy!
Today was productive, but not in the areas that I needed most to be productive in...Mel and I went to the big EDEKA, which was swamped with last-minute shoppers. That's what they get for being closed on Good Friday. Our cashier guy was extremely attractive. Guess who's going to go to the big EDEKA more often...Mel decided to buy The Incredibles! However, we got back and opened it, and...no disks! So that's what the sticker on the front was for...we were supposed to stop at the information desk to get the actual disks. So we walked back to the store (our cashier was off duty :-( ), got the movie, came back, and watched it! It was great!
Mel and I just went to the coolest service ever! It was the Osternacht service, and started out in the courtyard of St. Mary's with bonfire. The Catholics and Protestant churches were all represented, and lit candles to bring back to the respective churches from the bonfire. We all followed the big candle into the church, which was pitch dark except for the big candle at the entry, small votives on the steps, and two candles at the pulpit. As the service progressed, candles were lit at the ends of all the pews. There were four baptisms and at the end we had communion. After communing, each person got a lit candle to bring back to their seats. The candles were awesome - white with a red cross with "A" at the top and "Ω" at the bottom. The church looked so pretty lit up by all the candles.
Sooo, I hope I can get this paper done...Ten pages by Tuesday? We'll see...I also have 6 pages of Lola to read for Monday and the rest of ch. 5 for Values. Ugh. Why can't I have good time management skills???
In other news, I am so excited about my mom and grandma coming to visit! Less than a week til they're here!
