AppleCare Rocks!
After my laptop had the little cat incident the firewire bus no longer would power things. This put a major kink in my DJ setup. I went through the usual trouble shooting steps at home and determined that it was the laptop. So Wednesday I took my laptop to the Apple store a few blocks from my house. The guy behind the counter was very knowledgeable. We determined that yes the laptop did need repair paid for by my AppleCare extended warranty. Since the firewire bus is soldered onto the logic board they were just going to replace the it. No, I did not say anything about a glass of water. He apologized that they were a little backed up and that it would be 3-5 days before I got my laptop back. I got a call today, Saturday, saying my laptop was ready and that if I could not get there because of the weather that they would be open on Sunday. My laptop had a $500-$700 part replace with out having to sit on a phone, mail something in or anything. I did have to hang out and surf the internet for about 20 minutes before they got to my genius bar appoint. Painless.
