My dad just got the shaft from his work today. My parents are now joining the ranks of Oregon's 14% unemployment rate.
That... totally... sucks!
I feel awful for my dad. He's been so screwed over time and again by the places he's worked for. He started working for Kinny's Shoe Company when he was 16 and at 35, when he was a year away from having a 20 year retirement package with them, they gave him the shaft.
He worked for Shoe Pavillion for many years and hated every second of it and when things started to go badly for them, he got the shaft.
At his age and with his limited education it keeps getting harder and harder to find a good job.
