Life, some recs, and a duck
Hi!
Not dead or even close, really. But it has been a helluva year and a half or maybe three. I know I haven't been gone that long, but it feels like it. I'm kind of emerging from a fog, at least I hope I'm emerging. Some things I have learned recently:
1) You all are awesome and gryffindorj has an extra side of wonderful. Thank you to her and all of you who participated in for_min. ♥ x 1,000.
2) I've missed being around here more regularly or at all. I've missed writing more and commenting and rec'ing and I hope to be back and stop having to apologize to mods as of…right now.
3) Cancer sucks and so does losing a parent and my family is actually crazier than I thought.
4) I could grow old and wither away waiting for the kid to get out of the car. Seriously. I have tried to wait him out, just see how long it would take if I don't prompt him, hurry him along, pull him out of the car. I have never, not once, been able to wait him out. I always lose it and say, "would you please get out of the car?!" I asked him the other day to guess how many days of my life I had spent waiting for him to get out of the car thus far and he said, "About four weeks. Hey, have you ever noticed how people who have cats tend to get more cats?"
5) I have not updated my masterlist or reposted fest fics here for about a year and a half. I shall get right on that…now.

I stole this rec from snegurochka_lee. I pretty much always love her recs, so. The writing in this is beautiful. It is angsty and so very hot. It is a completely different take on school age H/D and I loved it.

Summary: Remus came over one wintery day, found Sirius hiding from the world and failing to make soup from curry and jam and some milk that hadn't quite gone off yet.

Inspired by How to Survive in the Wilderness (Without Soup) by Penknife.
This is another one where the writing was absolutely beautiful. There were passages I read a few times to get the way the author put the words together. Sirius and Remus characterizations are wonderful. It is achy and melancholy and romantic and sweet. While you're at it, go and read the fabulous original.
Post Cards from the Edge (The Return to Sender Remix)
Summary: Remus was only looking to save a little time with his homework. But what he wound up with was being the unwilling recipient of some very earnest love letters. His situation would be so much better if he could ignore Sirius and the letters, but he can't seem to manage that.

Inspired by Oi, M by via_ostiense.
What I love most about remix is seeing totally creative ways of remixing the original. This one took a simple note and built a whole different story around it, while staying true to the intent of the original note. Fun, sexy, sweet, and a very satisfying conclusion! Go and read it.

Oh, oh, so some of you fabulous people participated in the community I mentioned above for a whole month and it blew me away every single day!! There were sweet, silly, hot, and funny videos and photos, recipes, ridiculous names, and fics, to name some of the wonderful things. Serious that a bunch of you would do that just to cheer me up really knocked me flat. And here are a couple of the fabulous fics!!!
