The
charlieficathon is winding down. Just a few more days of posting and then reveals next Sunday. It is a fun little fest. There are slash, het, and gen stories with a variety of pairings, ratings, and word counts. So, come on by and give the hard working artists and authors (and Charlie) some love.
Here are a few I really liked:
The Masks We WearCharlie Weasley/Neville Longbottom, George Weasley/OFC, Ron Weasley/Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy/Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood/Rolf Scamander, NC-17, 12,585 words
Charlie's been living two separate lives. What will he do when they collide?
This is a different Charlie in that he is closeted in this much more repressive wizarding world than we usually see in fandom, but find nothing in canon to contradict. So, wizards frequent a club where they can have anonymous sex. Charlie starts going and he meets someone, someone he wants to see again. Under disguise, the two become lovers-something that is not supposed to happen at this club. There is a lovely friendship developing with Neville in the meantime. :) George is wonderful and wise and loving in his big scene here. It is a really good story and the 12K goes very quickly.
The Next StageCharlie/Kingsley, R, 4K
Charlie doesn't know how to be anything but a dragon keeper, and Kingsley's not allowed to take the job he wants. An unexpected suggestion may be what they both need.
This fic had a great set-up. It had some beautiful, achy imagery. A wonderful cameo by Percy. Kingsley was fabulous-smart and strong and elegant and sexy. It was very sweet (not too sweet) too with them both being vulnerable in their own way. A very enjoyable read!
And my gift was:
No ButsCharlie Weasley/Draco Malfoy; Charlie Weasley/Oliver Wood, NC-17, 2K
True love should come without any buts.
There is a fair amount of infidelity fic here! We seem to think that Charlie drives people to infidelity. What I really liked about this one was that no one was demonized. It was not easy and there is not a happy ending, but there is hope.
And the challenge, FWIW:
I'd love to see this fest have a little more readership. You do know of course, I am only thinking of others. :) I have no idea if this is any kind of enticement or not, but click over to
charlieficathon and read through anything that catches your eye, leave a comment, even if it is just to say, "enjoyed." While you're doing this, try and guess which one I wrote. For any correct guesses before the reveals, I will either add $10 to my donation to the
American Friends Services Committee in your honor or write a fic for you. I'll probably do both, actually. Course, if you beta'd it, your guess doesn't count. :P
Now I have to get back to editing a story that is already late-bet you're all sick of hearing me say that, huh? I know it is starting to bore me!!
Oh, and one more thing, THANK YOU, whoever nominated "One In Between" for a nextgen award!!! ♥
