Prompt #8 -- I am having an affair.
The morning after, he couldn’t look at her.
She came to his office, as she always did, at seven. He saw the red hem of her robes, but he couldn’t bring himself to meet her eyes, to see the accusation: You slept with another woman.
“I’m not to be disturbed!” he screamed at the footman standing guard.
A swish of red, and he was alone.
Later, a knock.
“Forgive me, Eminence,” said the footman. “It’s the Queen. Is she allowed?”
The King watched his wife of one day saunter toward him, and thought, I’m having an affair with my wife.
