Researchers from Liverpool University recently shared a fascinating tidbit about fingers and a person’s sex life. They began by comprising four ancient hominin species. These included: Ardipithecus ramidus, a hominid who lived around 4.4 million years ago; Australopithecus afarensis around three to four million years ago; Neanderthals, who disappeared around 28,000 years ago; and a fossil of an early Homo sapiens, as anatomically modern humans are known, from around 90,000 years ago.
From there, the team based a theory around the ratio between the length of the index and ring fingers, big shocker, right? They reached this theory because finger length is determined while in the womb, thanks to the amount of androgens (sex hormones) that we’re exposed to for nine months. “High levels of in-utero androgens increase the length of the fourth finger in relation to the second finger, which thus lowers the ratio.” So, Ardipithecus, who had a low finger level, was a tad randy. Australopithecus afarensis, who had a high finger level, was more exclusive. Finally, the Neanderthal and early humans had low levels, which “suggest that both groups may have been more promiscuous than most living human populations,” which could still be applicable today. So, if you have a longer ring finger than index finger, you’re probably a promiscuous boy or girl.
I have a longer ring finger. (ha ha)
So I haven't updated this thing in forever. I know. Not because I wouldn't like to, but I have nothing I feel is worthy of posting here. Plus, I'm never really sure if anyone reads this thing anyways. The semester so far has been going smoothly, but I have been plagued by my inability to do anything even remotely constructive towards graduation, like going to the career center. I just can't seem to find the time! Any extra hours I sleep away. I feel utterly unprepared for life after graduation. A college degree is really nothing more than an expensive piece of paper; it guarantees nothing! Anyways, I've been thinking practically, If I really want to do something in the fashion industry it may not hurt to try to do an internship. I found one for Macy's that sounds interesting but I haven't done much geared towards achieving that goal. How they expect us to stay on top of academics, [work], and plan towards our future all at once is beyond me! Senior year really should come with a life coach.
Besides that bit of exciting news, *sarcasm*, I've been thinking a lot about dying my hair blue. Random piece of information, surely, but it's something I thought I should add since it's been on my mind quite often recently. The only thing keeping me back is fear of losing my hair to over-processing, and the desire to grow my hair out truly long and wild before proceeding with any experimentation.
