As of Friday, I'm (more or less) officially out of the apartment. I still have a bike to pick up and keys to drop off, but I'm foregoing the walkthrough for the sake of being done. I would probably have been more sentimental upon leaving the last time, but I was so dirty from cleaning and hauling crap and my feet hurt (note to self, flip-flops are not so comfy after six hours of standing) that I just took a few pictures and left. Hard to believe I'll forget what the place looked like in a few years, but I probably will.
Now begins the fun at the new house! Libby advised that I take it one box at a time, and I'm trying. It's easy to get overwhelmed because I want it all done now, but I'm trying to focus on one bag/box/room at a time and just try to get a little more done each day. I haven't even been there a month, honestly. But today I was able to walk through the kitchen without stubbing my toe, so I think I'm making progress.
I couldn't resist a little birdfeeder, which I put on a hook someone nailed into one of the oak trees out back. This morning before leaving for work I peeked out the window and half the food is gone. I'd like to think the birds all flocked to it but I suspect a squirrel found a way to dump it. Will check when I get home...
And! Update on that load-bearing wall shenanigans. Checked with the previous owner (on my realtor's advice, giving no reason for my question) and apparently there never was a wall there. They took out the original overhead cabinets (hence the divots in the ceiling that looked like there might have been a wall). She might even have pictures to send me. If this is true, and I have no reason to believe it's not, that assessor caused me a LOT of unnecessary stress. I will have someone's head. Oh yes, I will...
In a non-house-related topic(shocking!), wishing any dads a very happy father's day!
